Concordia-St. Paul Athletic Hall of Fame
Roger received his degree from Concordia in kinesiology with a coaching certificate in 2002. Prior to playing baseball and football for the Comets, Roger attended Golden Valley Lutheran College from 1976-78.
In 1981 on the diamond for the Comets, Roger slugged a single season record 12 home runs – a record that would stand for 25 years! He played first base and catcher for Concordia baseball and was named Most Valuable Player, All-Conference and as part of his record setting home run season he homered against every conference team that season.
In the fall, Roger suited up for the Comet football team, where he earned All-Conference Second Team honors as a two-sport athlete playing center on the gridiron.
He is still very involved in athletics as an adult, serving as head baseball coach in the Eden Prairie Baseball Association with a AAA Travel Team that he has guided to two state championships. In addition to playing and coaching, Roger is a hockey referee for the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) with six MSHSL State Hockey Tournament appearances in his career.
He works as a sales representative for Greater Midwest Fundraising. He and his wife, Lori, have two children, Luke (15) and Erin (10).
