Concordia-St. Paul Athletic Hall of Fame
Brian Jamros became Concordia’s first All-Northern Sun (NSIC) First Team selection, earning the nod in back-to-back years as a junior in 2003-04 and senior in 2004-05. When his Concordia career came to a close, he left the program as the second leading scorer in Golden Bear/Comets history with 1,371 points and still ranks fifth on the career scoring list today.
His 529 points as a junior in the 2003-04 are still a program record as he averaged 18.9 points per game while shooting 44.2 percent (88-199) from the three-point arc.
As a senior, Jamros nearly topped his single season scoring record with a 511 point season as he made a school record 107 three-pointers while connecting at a 46.1 percent rate.
He holds the career record for most three-pointers made (245) and averaged 15.2 points per game in 90 games played (all starts) as a Golden Bear.
Among his top achievements was the team success on the 2004-05 squad that had an 11-win turnaround with an 18-11 overall record, the most wins in 11 seasons, tied for the second most wins in a season in program history and the most wins in a season since making the move to Division II and the NSIC in 1999-2000.
The 2004-05 team also had a fourth place finish in the NSIC with a 7-7 record and won its first NSIC Tournament game that year. The 18-win season for Jamros and the Golden Bears in 2004-05 still ranks as the fourth winningest season in Concordia men’s basketball history.
While excelling on the court, Jamros was also busy off the court as president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), serving as Department of Athletics intern for two years and meeting his future wife, Ashley (Olson, ’07, M.A. ‘13) who was a standout on the CSP volleyball team.
After earning his bachelor’s degree, Jamros would remain at CSP as an athletics graduate assistant to earn his first master’s degree in organizational management (’08) before completing his M.B.A. (’12).
Alongside Katie (LaViolette, ’08, M.A. ‘09) Fischer, he assisted in the development of the current sport management master’s program at CSP while working as an associate athletic director.
Most recently, Jamros accepted the director of athletics position at Concordia University Portland prior to the 2015-16 academic year, leaving CSP after working 10 years in the athletic department. Concordia-Portland is a member of the Concordia University System and a new NCAA Division II member.
He continued to be involved in the community in his hometown of Moose Lake, Minnesota where he conducted the Up North basketball camp from 2005-15 where over 1,000 campers attended during the time period. He also was involved with Positive Coaching Alliance Young Associates as a board member while he resided in the Twin Cities and served as the NCAA Division II Volleyball Chair.
Brian and Ashley were married on campus in the Graebner Memorial Chapel under former CSP President Rev. Dr. Robert Holst in 2011. Brian and Ashley have combined to earn five degrees from CSP, have each taught classes which Ashley continues to do today.
They have two daughters, Grace (3) and Olivia (1).
