Marshall Building
The Marshall Building has been used as a practice facility for the men's and women's golf teams since November 2017. Located south of Sea Foam Stadium near the corner of Marshall Avenue and Hamline Avenue North, the Marshall Building provides a space for the men’s and women’s golf team to practice in the winter months.
With use of the new facility, CSP’s golf teams have the opportunity to use equipment to improve their skills while golf courses in Minnesota are unusable due to weather. “This building allows us to stay sharp all winter without having to drive 30 minutes to the closest golf dome,” head coach Taylor Ramirez stated.
The Marshall Building features four hitting bays with new hitting mats, including a bay that features a Flight Scope. The Flight Scope is a 3D doppler radar that allows for ball tracking and shot simulator “Student-athletes love to use the Flight Scope to be competitive and to stay in tune with their distances and club head speeds,” Ramirez remarked.
The facility is also equipped with a state-of-the-art 30x16 putting green, built by Pro Putt Systems. This allows for the men’s and women’s golf teams to practice both putting and chipping.
The Marshall Building also provides a place for the student athletes on the golf teams to progress academically and build team chemistry. “They use it as a place to hang out and study, and of course they take practice breaks while studying!” Ramirez said.
The facility is beneficial for the athletes on an individual level and the teams as a whole. “They love the new facility and I believe it [has] helped bring us success” the head coach stated. “This would not have been possible without the continuous support from our athletic director, Lunch McKenzie and Dr. LaMott.” Ramirez remarked. “They both played a critical part in putting this golf facility together, and we could not be more grateful.”
