An exercise science major from Mendota Heights, Minnesota (Henry Sibley HS), (Anderson) McKenzie joined the Golden Bears for the 2009 season and promptly helped the program secure four consecutive 30-plus win seasons, a feat accomplished by the prestigious softball program just twice in its NCAA Division II-era. In all, the Golden Bears compiled a 133-84 overall record and 61-39 record in Northern Sun play with four-straight winning conference seasons.

The winning wasn’t just confined to the regular season for McKenzie’s squads, who reached a pair of NCAA Central Region Tournaments during her career, as a sophomore in 2010 (35-17, 19-7 NSIC) and as a senior in 2012 (33-23, 13-11 NSIC) when they advanced to the regional championship placing them among the final 16 programs standing in Division II softball.

After spending the first half of her career as an underclassman bringing athleticism to right field and the second spot in the lineup, she patrolled center field and led off to pace the lineup for her final 108 games as a junior and senior. By the end of her career, she had stolen 95.6 percent of her 113 stolen base attempts, successfully swiping a bag from the opposition 108 times.

Upon graduation, she spent the early part of her professional career with Target Corporation in Minneapolis as an inventory analyst and returned to the dugout as an assistant coach for the Golden Bears from 2015-19. Following her time at Target and with CSP softball’s coaching staff, she shifted gears to become a stay at home mother. She met her husband, Marcus, at CSP. He also holds a degree from CSP, earning his master’s degree while a graduate assistant and later full time pitching coach for the Golden Bear baseball program. The couple has a daughter, Madison, and reside in Lakeville, Minnesota.
