Hunter was a standout baseball player for the Comets in the late 1970’s, earning NLCAA All-American honors in 1978 as he was named the Most Valuable Player of the baseball team. He was a two-time All-Conference selection, in 1978 and again in 1979. He continues to remain active in athletics in his adult life in his community of Lakeville, Minn. He is currently the Lakeville North Baseball Youth Travelling Coach. He’s also a board member of the Lakeville North Boys Basketball Association. Don and his wife Sherri have one son, Alex (11).
