Concordia-St. Paul Athletic Hall of Fame
A walk-on to Concordia with no prior cross country or track & field team experience, Kyle Warren would end up being a two-time team captain and won every 800 meter race during his NCAA Division II Championships qualifying season until the national meet.
His personal best time of 1:51.51 came on a day where he nearly stayed home due to illness, but instead made a fateful trip to South Dakota as the 2006 outdoor season was winding down. Having won every 800 meter race that season, Warren faded to fourth at the 500 meter mark when coach Jonathan Breitbarth (head cross country, assistant track & field) had Warren kick early. He was able to muster the stamina to finish strong, passing the leader in the final 10 meters.
His top moment as an athlete, that finish of 1:51.51 is still a school record today and was the qualifying time for Warren to become the first male track & field at Concordia to qualify for the NCAA Division II Championships.
Warren’s career included 10 NSIC individual (3x) and relay (7x) championships and at the time of his graduation he was the NSIC indoor record holder in the 600 meter while holding five individual and six relay school records. He continues to hold the school records in the indoor 600 meter, outdoor 800 meter and outdoor 4x400 meter relay and sprint medley relay teams.
In the fall, Warren was a three-time All-NSIC cross country runner for the Golden Bears and key member of the best CSP team finish in men’s cross country when the team was runner-up in 2004.
In addition to becoming the school’s first male athlete to represent the University at an NCAA Division II Championship, Warren was a two-time CoSIDA (now named Google Cloud) Academic All-America First Team selection, earning the honor separately in 2006-07 for cross country and track & field and the first male athlete to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team honors.
After earning a degree in human health services in 2007, Warren went on to earn a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Logan University in St. Louis, Missouri in 2010. He has been working in private practice since earning his degree, first starting his own chiropractic practice (Warren Internal Health) before becoming co-owner of Restorative Health Solutions in Edina.
He most recently completed a certification in functional medicine and has been work to improve the health of those suffering from chronic fatigue, thyroid disorders and Lyme disease.
A Bloomington, Minnesota native (Bethany Academy), Kyle is married to CSP soccer and track & field alum Anne Mueller. They have three children, Lillia (9), Lucas (6) and Gabriella (2).
