Golden Bears earn four first-place marks in Mankato

Robinson takes first and earns a provo mark in the high jump

MANKATO, Minn.- The Concordia-St. Paul track and field team competed in the Mark Schuck Open & Multi on Friday and Saturday, hosted by Minnesota State. The Bears earned one NCAA DII provisional mark and four first-place finishes at the meet. Additionally, the Golden Bears had 19 top-ten finishes across 14 events and eight top-five finishes across eight events. 

Arika Robinson, with her first place win in the women's high jump with a 5'8" mark, was the only Golden Bear to earn an NCAA DII provisional mark and sits at second among female Division II athletes in the event.  

Robinson was first of 24 competitors in the event, including teammates Ella Paaverud who tied for seventh and Courtney Mensah who tied for 21st. Robinson also placed second in the long jump with a 18'4.5" mark, a new college best. 

Thomas Schauerman took home a first place finish in the 600m dash with a time of 1:23.06, outpacing second place by .07 seconds. The senior also earned his college best time in the event today. Teammate Josh Sims placed 8th in the event with a time of 1:25.00. 

Jakob Tordsen placed first in the high jump with a new college best height of 6'8", falling just .75" short of the CSP men's program record. Arik Johnson, Josh Hauver, and Calder Erick also competed in the event. Johnson tied for 6th with a 6'2" mark, Hauver took 14th with a 5'6" mark, and Calder Erick earned 16th with a 5'2.25" jump. 

Andrew Johnson earned a first place finish in the long jump with a converted mark of 23'1.25". He also earned a new college best in the 200m with a time of 22.97, taking ninth. 

Other top finishes for the Golden Bears include Sofia Dodge who tied for second in the pole vault with a 11'1.75" mark, Eben Mundfrom who took third in the weight throw with a toss of 59'7.75", and Owen Erickson who placed fifth in the 5000m with a 15:38.60 time. 

The Golden Bears will compete in the Bearcat Open next, hosted by Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, Mo. on Saturday, Feb. 5.
