EMPORIA, Kan. – The 2026 NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships continued on Friday afternoon at Welch Stadium on the campus of Emporia State, with CSP junior
Mehlayna Straub earning All-America Second Team honors in the heptathlon.
Straub finished in ninth place out of the 16 competitors in the event, tallying a total of 5093 points. In the seven events of the heptathlon, she finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles, fifth in the 200-meter dash, eighth in the shot put, eighth in the long jump, 11
th in the javelin throw, 12
th in the high jump, and 14
th in the 800-meter.
She set a new personal record in the shot put with a distance of 39' 9.75" (12.13 meters).
With her selection as a second-team All-American, Straub becomes the first All-American in the outdoor heptathlon for CSP since Arika Harbo in 2023-24. Straub, who is also a member of the Concordia volleyball team, has now earned All-America honors in two sports after being named an AVCA All-America Honorable Mention last fall.
