ST. PAUL, Minn. – Concordia-St. Paul head football coach Joshua Schumacher has filled three vital positions on the 2026 coaching staff with the hiring of offensive coordinator Jordan Armstrong, quarterbacks coach Marco Aguinaga and defensive backs coach Felix King.

Former All-NSIC center Caydon Christensen has also been added to the coaching staff as a graduate assistant working with the offense, making the transition from Golden Bear player to coach this offseason.

The four new coaching additions join Caleb Muxlow to coach the offensive line, as well as returning coaches Dalton Thomas (defensive line), Devin Vouk (wide receivers), second-year graduate assistant Riley Heller (defense) and student assistant Elijah Mathews (equipment).

"I am very excited about our coaching staff. We have a powerful mix of returning coaches who are passionate about our mission and new coaches who recognize the opportunity to build something special here at Concordia," said Coach Schumacher. "I believe our staff must be a cohesive unit so that our players see a living example of how to compete and work toward a common goal. These men know what it takes to win. I am thrilled to have coaches on staff here at Concordia who have championship experience."

Armstrong and Aguinaga join Concordia from Tiffin University, an NCAA Division II program in Ohio competing in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC). They each spent two seasons on the Dragons' sidelines, Armstrong as tight ends coach while Aguinaga coached the running backs. King joins Concordia from Grand View University, the two-time defending NAIA national champions located in Des Moines, Iowa. King was defensive backs coach for three seasons for the Vikings.

Armstrong and Aguinaga helped coach Tiffin to a pair of winning seasons, going 8-4 overall and 7-2 in the GMAC including an appearance in the America's Crossroads Bowl in 2024 before going 7-4 overall and 6-3 GMAC in 2025.

"Coach Strong brings a lot to the table: I love his creativity, passion, faith, and commitment to a consistent process," said Coach Schumacher. "We are blessed to have Jordan, Haley, and their boys join the CSP community, and I couldn't be more excited to see him lead here at Concordia."

Together, the duo helped Tiffin finish second in the 2024 GMAC standings before finishing fourth in 2025. Each season, the Tiffin offense led the GMAC in scoring.

"Coach Marco is a huge win for our coaching staff. His chemistry and experience with Coach Armstrong will accelerate the development of our offense," said Coach Schumacher. "He had an impressive playing career as an All-American at Baker University, complemented by success in professional leagues across the globe. He is more than just a talented former player; he is a bright mind, and I'm pumped he is here."

Meanwhile, King experienced the pinnacle of football with a perfect 14-0 2025 season capped off with an NAIA championship as the Viking defense allowed just 53 total points in four NAIA playoff games in a tough path that included top-16 teams in the nation in every round.

"Coach King is a proven winner, both as a player and a coach. He has a great mind for the game, and I know he will pour into our secondary and truly develop our young men," said Coach Schumacher. "Having coached against him during his playing days and followed his transition into coaching, I've seen firsthand the impact he makes."

In three seasons at Grand View, the Vikings posted a 39-1 record including 28-straight wins, nine shutout wins, and never lost a Heart of America Athletic Conference game (19-0).

Christensen moves into a coaching role after playing all 44 games in his CSP career including three years as the program's starting center, culminating with being named a two-time All-NSIC center, making the second team in 2024 before becoming a first team selection in 2025.

"Before I even stepped foot on campus, I was told about Caydon and his passion for the CSP football program. He has more than lived up to those expectations," Coach Schumacher commented. "He jumped right in, rolled up his sleeves, and got to work. I am excited to see him and Coach Muxlow build our offensive line."

Schumacher carries a 59-25 career head coaching record to CSP from Concordia Ann Arbor. Coach Schumacher and his staff have been working towards their first recruiting class, which has swelled to 18 officially signed players including three who are already on campus.
