Riley Heller joined the CSP football coaching staff prior to the 2025 season as a graduate assistant after a successful playing career as a versatile athlete able to impact the game on both sides of the line of scrimmage.
As a coach, his versatility is already making him a valuable factor in the program as he spent his first year as a graduate assistant on offense before making the transition to a defensive graduate assistant for the 2026 season.Â
As a player, Heller was recruited as a tight end, appearing in seven games apiece in 2021 and 2022 before getting into 10 contests in 2023. By 2024, he had converted to the defensive line where he appeared in all 11 games including 11 total tackles, 1.5 TFLs and a half sack.
The Bloomfield, Iowa native was a three-time NSIC All-Academic Team selection including twice to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence. He earned a k-12 physical education and 5-12 health education major with a minor in coaching and is now pursuing a master's degree at CSP.
