Marco Aguinaga

Marco Aguinaga joined Concordia’s football staff prior to the 2026 spring season and will work with the quarterbacks on the Golden Bear sidelines.
 
Aguinaga spent the previous two seasons as running backs coach at Tiffin University (Ohio), helping lead a Dragons to a pair of winning seasons, going 8-4 overall and 7-2 in the GMAC including an appearance in the America’s Crossroads Bowl in 2024 before a 7-4 overall and 6-3 GMAC finish in 2025.
 
With Aguinaga on staff, the Dragons posted a second-place finish in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference in 2024 and a fourth-place finish in 2025 while leading the GMAC in scoring in back-to-back seasons.
 
In 2024, Tiffin ranked second in the GMAC with 148.4 rushing yards per game and led the league with a 4.5 average per carry. The Dragons also led the league with 230 first downs and 402.4 yards of total offense per game. The run-game opened things up for the passing attack, which was top-20 in the nation in efficiency (157.10), yards (254.0) and fourth in the nation in completion percentage (67.7%).
 
In 2025, the Dragons led the GMAC in total offense (404.0), averaged 128.9 rushing yards per game and were one of just two GMAC programs to average more than 4.0 yards per carry (4.1), finishing second in the league in yards per carry. His coaching contributed to an offense that led the GMAC and ranked 33rd in the nation in third-down percentage (44.7%), the nation’s seventh-ranked and GMAC-leading red zone offense (91.4%). The efficient run-game helped open up the pass game, which ranked eighth in the country in efficiency (164.33), ninth in percentage (67.5%) and 17th in yardage (275.1).
 
Aguinaga coached the GMAC’s leading rusher in back-to-back seasons and had a pair of rushers in the GMAC top-20 in 2024 and a pair in the top-15 in 2025. In 2024, he coached the nation’s third-ranked rusher who was sixth in the country in total touchdowns, leading to an All-American season.
 
He was a four-year starting quarterback at Baker University, leading the program to four conference championships during his five years in the program. He was a 2022 NAIA All-American and four-time All-Conference First Team selection and holds the single-game passing yards record at Baker. He compiled over 9,000 career passing yards and over 75 career touchdowns while leading the team to 44 wins as a four-year starter.

He played professionally overseas after earning his degree from Baker in public relations, competing in the Brazil Football League for Galo and the Austrian Football League for the Cineplexx Blue Devils. He was named the BFA MVP in Brazil, and was part of a pair of championships: the Minas Bowl and CBFA Bowl.
