Lewis breaks school record at the Meet of the UnSaintly

Lewis picks up two of team's seven wins on the day

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia-St. Paul track and field teams closed out the regular season on a high note as they collected seven wins, including a school record performance for Cece Lewis in the 400m, at the Meet of the UnSaintly on the campus of Hamline University on Friday night.
 
In their final meet before the NSIC Outdoor Championships, CSP collected 15 top-five finishes on the men's side and 10 top-five finishes on the women's side in a strong showing.
 
Lewis collected two of the team's wins on the day as she edged out Alyssa Christianson's school record of 57.03 seconds in the 400m set back in 2014 with a blazing fast time of 56.77 seconds to go along with a win and a time of 25.67 seconds in the 200m as well.
 
Courtney Mensah made it three wins for the women on the track as she secured the top spot in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:09.39 while Ella Paaverud and Tia Donlan picked up wins in their respective field events. Paaverud claimed a first place result in the high jump by clearing 5'4.25" while Donlan's mark of 158'2" in the discus throw also secured a win. Donlan chipped in a second place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 158'2".
 
Christabelle Mulcahy took second in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.27 seconds while Sydney Jackson took third in the 800m, finishing in 2:21.67.
 
Eben Mundfrom and Owen Erickson registered the two wins on the men's side as Mundfrom cleared 190'1" in the hammer throw while Erickson wrapped up the 5000m in 15:55.46.
 
Second place finishes went to Andrew Johnson in the 100m (10.95 seconds), Matthew Helser in the 1500m (3:58.16), Basheer Alam in the pole vault (11'7"), Hunter Quinn in the shot put (45'9.75" and CJ Picazo in the discus throw (158'0").
 
Picazo (shot put) and Quinn (discus) each took home third in another event while Arik Johnson took third in the 100m hurdles and Thomas Dietel took third in the 400m.
 
Concordia will look to carry the momentum into the NSIC Outdoor Championships next week as they open up competition on Thursday with events running until Saturday.
