Golden Bears take home 17 top-10 finishes on split weekend

Mundfrom sets school record in the hammer throw

VERMILLION, S.D. – The Concordia-St. Paul track and field teams collected 17 top-10 finishes split between the Hamline Invitational and the USD Early Bird Invite on Saturday afternoon, highlighted by Eben Mundfrom's school record performance in the hammer throw.
 
Mundfrom collected one of the men's team's 11 finishes inside the top-10 as he took home seventh in the hammer throw at the USD Early Bird Invite with a distance of 178'11", surpassing Nasru Wado's mark of 176'10" set back in 2019.
 
Joining him in the top-10 at the USD Early Bird Invite were Thomas Dietel and Andrew Johnson as Dietel finished fourth in the 200m with a time of 22.14 in the 200m while Johnson took ninth in the long jump with a distance of 22'1.00". Dietel, Johnson, Hudson Jean and Nate Segura added a fifth place finish in the 4x100m relay with a time of 42.17.
 
At the Hamline Invitational, Thomas Schauerman was the top finisher as he claimed the team's lone win on the day as he paced the field in the 800m with a time of 1:56.62. Jakob Tordsen chipped in a pair of third place results as his time of 15.13 in the 110m hurdles and his height of 14'1.25" in the pole vault both registered in at third. Schauerman, Tordsen, Calder Erick and Arik Johnson joined forced to finish second with a time of 3:26.34 in the 4x400m relay.
 
Taaron Rudzitis added a fifth place finish in the 400m with a time of 51.06 while Josh Hauver joined Tordsen in the top-10 in the pole at 10th with a height of 12'1.5" and Arik Johnson grabbed 10th in the high jump with a height of 6'0.75".
 
For the women, Christabelle Mulcahy and Tia Donlan collected the two top-10 efforts at the USD Early Bird Invite. Mulcahy took eighth in both the prelims and the finals of the 100m hurdles, registering a time of 14.78 in the finals. Donlan cleared 142'3" to take 10th in the discus.
 
Sydney Jackson claimed the best finish at the Hamline Invitational for the Golden Bears as her time of 1:00.55 was good for third in the 400m. Moira Hazel joined her in the top-10 on the track as she took eighth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.24. Hazel added a second top-10 finish in the javelin throw as her distance of 86'1" earned her ninth. Sofia Dodge added a ninth place finish in the pole vault with a height of 10'1.5".
 
Concordia is back in action next weekend at the Minnesota State Open and Multis on Friday and Saturday.
