Update: Weather forces cancellation of UST track & field meet

ST. PAUL, Minn.- The Concordia-St. Paul track and field team added a last-minute event to their schedule for 2021-22. Select Golden Bears will participate in the St. Thomas Open on the afternoon of Friday, December 10. 

Women's field events will start at 3:30 p.m. with the long jump and men's field events will start at 4:30 p.m. with the same event. Running events will start at 4:00 p.m. with the 60m hurdles preliminary, men/women. 

The Golden Bears women will compete in the 60m dash, 200m dash, 400m dash, 60m hurdles, high jump, long jump, shot put, and weight throw. 

Christabelle Mulcahy and Lauryn Samuel will compete in the 60m dash and Mulcahy will also compete in the 60m hurdles. Mulcahy earned her career best 60m time of 8.23 at the Bison Open in February, 2021 and earned her best 60m hurdle time of 8.78 at the 2020 Northern Sun Indoor Track & Field Championships where she placed second and earned an NCAA DII provisional mark. Samuel earned her career best 8.17 time at the Minnesota Cold Classic in February, 2020. 

Besides the 60m dash, Samuel will also participate in the 200m dash. She earned a career best 26.49 in the event at the 2020 Northern Sun Indoor Track & Field Championship. Courtney Mensah will compete alongside Samuel in the 200m. The sophomore's collegiate best of 28.84 was set at the South Dakota Challenge in the spring of her freshman year. 

Moira Hazel will be competing alongside Mulcahy in the 60m hurdles, an event she has never competed in before in her collegiate career. Hazel will also be the lone representative for the Golden Bears in the shot put. She holds a 10.19m best that was earned at the South Dakota Challenge in April, 2021. 

Mensah will also compete in the high jump with Arika Robinson and the long jump alone. Mensah has a best high jump mark of 1.40m set at the South Dakota Challenge and a long jump mark of 4.88m from the Maverick Spring Invite, both from April of this year. 

Robinson will only compete in the high jump at the St. Thomas Open. She previously placed her best mark at the SDSU Holiday Open & Multi in the event last weekend with a 1.77m jump. She took first place in the event and earned an NCAA DII provisional mark. 

Breonna Graham will represent CSP in the 400m dash. Her personal best time of 1:10.59 was recently set at the Chuck Petersen Open last weekend (12/04/21). 

Sarah Jeppesen is set to participate in the weight throw. Her previous best of 12.68m was set at the MSU Triangular in Mankato in February, 2021. 

The men will only compete in the 60m dash and the weight throw. 

Andrew Johnson will be the sole Bear in the 60m dash on Friday. He previously earned his collegiate best time of 7.12 in the preliminary round at the Bison Open earlier this year. 

Eben Mundfrom and Hunter Quinn will compete in the weight throw event. Mundfrom recently earned his best throw at the Chuck Petersen Open earlier this December with an 18.47m throw, earning him first place in the event and an NCAA DII provisional mark. Quinn also earned his best recorded throw at the Chuck Petersen Open where he threw 16.34m. 

Following the St. Thomas Open, the Golden Bears will next compete at the Gary Wilson Open hosted by the University of Minnesota on Saturday, January 8, 2022.
