LAKE CITY, Minn. — The Concordia-St. Paul women's golf team completed round one at The Watkins Invitational at the Jewel in Lake City on Monday afternoon. The Golden Bears currently sit in fourth place with a team score of 303 (+19) at the end of the first round.
Addi Wood carded a 71 (E) to finish the day tied for second place on the individual leader board. After a few early bogeys, Wood went on a run of six consecutive pars. Adding a birdie on 262 yard, par four sixth hole. Collecting two more birdies to finish the day at even par.
Senior Piper Hill finished the day with three birdies on the scorecard to shoot a 76 (+5) and in 11th place. Hill's first birdie came on the 315 yard, par four 17th, adding on two more three and six to finish the opening round five-over-par.
Ella Matzke managed par on her first six holes adding one birdie on 14 to card a 77 (+6) in the opening round, ending the day in 16th place. Rebecca DeLong made par on 11 holes, finishing the day with a score of 79 (+8) and in 23rd place.
Darby Barstad birdied once on the par three sixth hole, to card a 82 (+11) in round one.
Minnesota State finished the day atop the team leaderboard, the Mavericks carded a 297 (+11) good for a three stroke lead over second place Arkansas-Fort Smith. Winona State currently sits in third place two strokes ahead of CSP.
Victoria Woytassek of Minnesota State is atop the individual leaderboard, holding a one stroke lead over CSP's Addi Wood. Emerson Garlie is currently tied for second with Wood after shooting even par in round one.
The Golden Bears are back in action Tuesday morning for the final round of The Watkins Invitational at the Jewel in Lake City.
