Golden Bears sit in a tie for fourth place through one round at NSIC Preview

Addi Wood and Piper Hill finish the day inside the top 10 individually.

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. — The Concordia-St. Paul women's golf team wrapped up play in round one at the NSIC Preview in a tie for fourth place this afternoon. The Golden Bears carded a collective 312 (+24) at the Adam Pointe Golf Complex in Blue Springs, Missouri. 

Addi Wood finished the day in tie for sixth place on the individual leaderboard, after carding a 75 (+3) in the opening round. Wood started the day by shooting a 35 on the back nine, with a pair of birdies on holes 14 and 18 before carding a 40 on the front nine to end the day three over par. 

Piper Hill finished the day in a tie for 10th place after carding a 76 (+4) in the first round. Hill tallied three birdies on the afternoon, with two on the front nine and two on the back nine. The senior golfer notched birdies on holes 14 and 16 to shoot a 38 at the turn before adding birdies on holes five and eight to finish the day four over par. 

Ella Matzke carded a 79 (+7) in round one to finish the day in 21st place, while adding two birdies to the scorecard on holes three and 13. Matzke recorded a 40 on the back nine and a 39 on the front nine to finish the day seven over par. 

Darby Barstad carded a 82 (+10) in round one, recovering from a 45 on the back nine by shooting a 37 on the front nine to end the day in a tie for 40th place. Barstad also added two birdies in the opening round on holes two and 16. 

Rounding out the CSP five was Rebecca DeLong with a score of 83 (+11) in the opening round to close the day in 47th place. Marina Allen competed independently and shot a 82 (+10) in round one to finish the day in a tie for 40th place. 

Missouri Western ended the opening round in the top spot as a team after carding a collective 301 (+13). Augustana is in second place one stroke off the lead with a score of 302 (+14) as the top NSIC team. 

Lanie Veenendall of Augustana leads in the individual competition after carding a 72 (E) in the first round. 

The final round of action at the NSIC Preview gets underway tomorrow morning at the Adams Pointe Golf Complex in Blue Springs, Missouri.
