Concordia-St. Paul women's golf competes at NSIC Championships this weekend

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia-St. Paul women's golf team competes at the NSIC Championships this weekend in Smithville, Missouri at the par-72 Paradise Pointe Golf Complex. The 54-hole tournament consists of a round each day from Friday, April 25 to Sunday, April 27. 

TOURNAMENT INFO
All 12 NSIC teams will compete in the three-round tournament. Friday's and Saturday's rounds will begin at 9 a.m. with tee time starts while Sunday's final round will have a shotgun start. The winning team will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Central/Midwest Super Regional. The top five players will earn a spot on the NSIC All-Tournament Team.  

Paradise Pointe Golf Complex features two different 18-hole courses. Both courses have excellent views of Smithville Lake and the natural wildlife habitats of the area. 

LAST TIME OUT
The Golden Bears last competed at the Wayne State Wildcat Classic at the Wayne Country Club. Freshman Ella Matzke led CSP tying for third place. Matzke shot a career-best 74 (+2) in the second round to total a score of 156 (+12). 

Darby Barstad and Piper Hill each shot back-to-back rounds of 82 (+10) for a total of 164 (+20) to tie for 24th. Rebecca DeLong totaled a score of 170 (+26) to tie for 44th after also shooting 82 (+10) in the second round. 

Concordia-St. Paul placed seventh in the team race shooting 654 (+78). The Golden Bears defeated Minnesota Crookston in eighth place by 10 strokes and fell to Sioux Falls in sixth place by five strokes. Wayne State won the tournament shooting 634 (+58). 

NSIC PREVIEW RESULTS
The Golden Bears competed at the NSIC Preview at Paradise Pointe Golf Complex from March 31 to April 1. CSP took 11th out of 13 teams in the two-round tournament shooting 679 (+103).

Hill and Barstad led CSP shooting 167 (+23) to tie for 34th place. Barstad had the best round of any golfer shooting 81 (+9) in round one. Hill shot 84 (+12) in round two to jump 12 placements after round one.

Matzke tied for 59th shooting 175 (+31), DeLong tied for 62nd one stroke behind at 176 (+32) and Marina Allen tied for 64th shooting 177 (+33). Augustana (S.D.) won the tournament shooting 626 (+50) as a team. 

2024 NSIC TOURNAMENT
Hill highlighted last season's NSIC Tournament for the Golden Bears tying for third and earning a spot on the NSIC All-Tournament Team. Hill shot 229 (+13) tying Molly Stevens of Augustana in third place. 

CSP shot 110 (+94) as a team to take fifth place. Barstad and Anna Tollette tied for 23rd shooting 246 (+30). Barstad shot an impressive 76 (+4) in round three. DeLong tied for 30th shooting 253 (+37). 

Augustana won the tournament shooting 910 (+46) which was 29 strokes better than Winona State in second place. CSP trailed Wayne State in fourth place by 21 strokes and defeated Southwest Minnesota State in sixth place by 30 strokes. 

Winona State's Carly Moon won the NSIC Tournament individually shooting 221 (+5) with rounds of 72 (E), 72 (E) and 77 (+5). Augustana's Lauren Tims, Stevens, Shannon McCormick and Lanie Veenendall made up the rest of the top five outside of Moon and Hill.
