Golden Bears sit in seventh place through two rounds in Edmond

Josh Esterley led the way for CSP after shooting a 139 (-1) through 36 holes at the Skip Wagnon Invitational.

EDMOND, Okla. — The Concordia-St. Paul men's golf team completed the first two rounds of play at the Skip Wagnon Invitational. Through 36 holes of play the Golden Bears are tied for seventh place with a team score of 561 (+1). 

Josh Esterley finished the day as CSP's top scorer, shooting a 65 (-5) in round one and a 74 (+4) in round two for a total score of 139 (-1), Esterley is currently tied for 19th on the leaderboard.

The junior started the day hot, birdying seven times in round one, including back-to-back birdies on 14 and 15. Esterley birdied again on 17, before tallying his seventh birdie on the 365 yard, par four second hole to finish round one five-under-par. 

Esterley birdied three times in round two, including the 586 yard, par five, 15th hole to card a 74 in the second round. Esterley finished the day tied for 19th place and tied for third among NSIC competitors. 

Chase Camilli finished the day tied with Esterley on the individual leaderboard in 19th place after shooting a 139 (-1). Camilli put together a strong first round, tallying six birdies on the scorecard, including back-to-back birdies on 15 and 16. The junior closed out the opening round with a birdie on the par five, fourth hole to card a 69 (-1). 

In round two Camilli started out with a birdie on that same 525 yard, par five, fifth hole adding two more to the scorecard. Camilli played a clean game throughout round two, with 12 pars to card a 70 (E) in round two. 

Freshman Sean Leutner birdied twice in the opening round, adding 10 pars to the scorecard to shoot a 74 (+4). In round two Leutner got hot, birdying five times, including three out of four holes on the back nine. Closing out the round with birdies on holes two and three to card a 66 (-4). Leutner carded a 140 (E) across both rounds to finish the day in 28th place. 

Senior Trey Timm birdied three times in round one, putting 13 pars on the scorecard to shoot a 70 (E) in the opening round. Timm birdied once in the second round on the 365 yard, par four, second hole to card a 77 (+7). 

Across both rounds Timm shot a 147 (+7) to finish the day in 72nd place. 

Carson Boe carded a 79 (+9) in the opening round, before tallying two birdies in round two to shoot a 73 (+3). Across both rounds the freshman carded a 152 (+12) to finish the day in 91st place. 

St. Mary's University (TX) finished the day atop the team leaderboard, shooting a 533 (-27) across both rounds. Tournament host Central Oklahoma sits in second place after shooting a collective 22-under-par. 

Among NSIC schools Winona State is tied with CSP in seventh place at one-over-par. Bemidji State sits four strokes behind the Golden Bears in ninth place. 

Guillame Paquette of St. Mary's sits atop the individual leaderboard at the end of day one. Paquette carded a 67 (-3) in round one and a 63 (-7) in round two to finish with a score of 130 (-10). 

The Golden Bears are back in action for the final round of the Skip Wagnon Invitational tomorrow morning at the Kickingbird Golf Course.
