LARCHWOOD, Iowa – The Concordia-St. Paul men's golf team is tied for sixth after one round of play at the USF Invitational in Larchwood, Iowa. The Golden Bears shot a collective 293 (+5) through 18 holes at the Grand Falls Golf Course.
Trey Timm led the way for CSP, carding a 68 (-4) in the opening round. The senior started the day hot, managing par on the opening two holes before putting an eagle on the scorecard on the 355 yard, par four, third hole.
Timm added another birdie on five and nine to head into the turn with a score of 32. On the back nine the senior added three more birdies on 12, 13 and 18 to finish the day four-under-par and in a three-way tie for first place individually.
Chase Camilli birdied twice, adding 14 pars to the scorecard to shoot a 74 (+2). Camilli capped off a clean front nine with a birdie on hole nine to head into the turn with a score of 35.
On the back nine Camilli added another birdie on the 200 yard, par three, 11th hole to card a 74(+2) in the opening round, finishing the day in 26th place.
Junior Josh Esterley birdied three times on the back nine, to card a 75 (+3). After shooting a 40 on the front nine, Esterley came through with three birdies on 10, 13 and 17 to end the day in 34th place.
Camden O'Malley carded a 76 (+4) in the opening round, putting four birdies on the scorecard. O'Malley birdied three times on the front nine to shoot 35 at the turn, finishing the day in 41st place.
Freshman Sean Leutner shot a 77 (+5) in the opening round, birdying once on the 560 yard, par five, 17th hole to finish the day in 45th place.
Winona State leads in the team competition through one round of play, the Warriors shot a collective six-under-par in the opening round.
Tied with Trey Timm atop the individual leaderboard is Logan Schoepp of Bemidji State and Charlie Hanson of Sioux Falls at four-under-par.
Play continues tomorrow at the Grand Falls Golf Course in Larchwood, Iowa for the final round of the USF Invitational.
