Golden Bears set to compete in the USF Invitational on Monday

CSP golf looks to end their fall season on a high note in Larchwood, Iowa.

ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Concordia-St. Paul men's and women's golf teams wrap up the fall portion of their schedule at the USF Invitational on Monday Oct. 13. The two round tournament will take place at the Grand Fall Golf Course in Larchwood, Iowa. 

Tournament and course info 
The Grand Falls Golf Course spans over 7,100 yards and includes a 30-foot waterfall that flows into a 12 acre lake. The course was designed by Rees Jones, a designer of over 100 courses worldwide that have hosted 16 major championships, six Ryder Cups, two Walker Cups and two Presidents Cups.  The par 72  course features four par fives, 10 par fours and four par threes. 

On the men's side, this year's USF Invitational features a 10 team field composed of all NSIC squads. Winona State, Bemidji State, Minot State, Jamestown, UMary, Minnesota-Crookston, Minnesota State, Augustana and host school Sioux Falls are all slated to compete. 

On the women's side 12 teams are slated to compete, all of which are NSIC squads. Southwest Minnesota State, Minot State, Wayne State, Minnesota-Crookston, Minnesota State, Winona State, Jamestown, Augustana, Minnesota State-Moorhead, UMary and host Sioux Falls make up the 12 team field. 

Last season
The CSP women's team competed at the USF Invitational last season. The Golden Bears finished in sixth place with a score of 652 (+76). Rebecca DeLong and Piper Hill finished tied for 19th place individually after carding identical scores of 163 (+19). 

Darby Barstad shot a 83 (+11) in round one and 88 (+16) in round two to card a 171 (+27) for the tournament. Ella Matzke carded a 168 (+2) across both rounds to finish 34th. 

Wayne State claimed the title in the team competition, the Wildcats shot a collective 626 (+50), finishing six strokes ahead of second place Augustana. 

Last time out
The Concordia men's team competed at the Skip Wagnon Invitational last week in Edmond, Oklahoma. The Golden Bears finished sixth after shooting a collective 842 (+2) across three rounds of play. 

Freshman Sean Leutner carded a 211 (+1) for the tournament to finish 25th individually. Leutner opened the tournament with a 74 in round one, before carding a season low 66 in round two, finishing the tournament with a 71 in the final round. 

Chase Camilli also recorded a new career 54 hole low, the junior carded a 212 (+2) to finish in 27th place. 

Senior Trey Timm set a new single round low, carding a 66 (-4) in the tournament's final round to shoot a 213 (+3) and finish in 31st place. 

Carson Boe carded a 223 (+13) through 54 holes, finishing in 83rd place. Josh Esterley recorded his second lowest 54 hole score, carding a 214 (+4). 

On the women's side, the Golden Bears finished 15th at the Grace Shin Invitational with a team score of 636 (+68) across 36 holes. 

Freshman Addi Wood carded a 146 (+4) across both rounds of the tournament, finishing as the top NSIC competitor in 14th place. Wood recorded her third even-par round of the season on Tuesday shooting a 71 (E). 

As a result the freshman golfer was named NSIC Women's Golfer of the Week for the second time this season. 

Ella Matzke tallied three birdies in the final round to shoot a 75 (+4), carding a 160 (+18) for the tournament to finish 66th. 

Rebecca DeLong carded a 165 (+23) to finish in 74th place, Piper Hill carded a 165 (+23) as well to finish tied for 74th with DeLong.
