LARCHWOOD, Iowa — The Concordia-St. Paul men's golf team managed a fifth place finish at the USF Invitational in Larchwood, Iowa this afternoon. The Golden Bears shot a collective 318 (+30) in the final round to card a 611 (+5) across both rounds of play.
Sean Leutner was CSP's top performer when it was all said and done, the freshman birdied twice in the final round to card a 78 (+6). Leutner started the day with a birdie on the 415 yard, par four, fifth hole, adding another birdie on hole 13 to close out the day six-over-par.
Leutner shot a 77 (+5) in the opening round to card a 155 (+11) for the tournament, moving up 13 spots on the final day to finish in 32nd place.
Trey Timm tallied one birdie in the final round to go along with 10 pars, carding a 81 (+9) in the final round. Timm shot a 68 (-4) in the opening round, turning in his fourth sub-70 round of the season. Across both rounds the senior shot a 149 (+5) to finish in 11th place.
Josh Esterley tallied three birdies on the day to shoot a 79 (+7). Esterley's first birdie of the day came on the 515 yard, par five seventh hole. The junior added two more on 11 and 17 to finish the day seven over par.
Esterley carded a 154 (+10) for the tournament, moving up six spots on the final day to finish tied for 28th place.
Chase Camilli shot an 80 (+8) in round two, Camilli closed out the day on a high note with a birdie on the 355 yard, par four, third hole. Across both rounds Camilli carded a 154 (+10) to finish tied with Esterley for 28th place.
Camden O'Malley rounded out the CSP five, shooting a 83 (+11) in the final round with one birdie on the ninth hole. O'Malley birdied four times in the opening round to shoot a 76 (+4), carding a 159 (+15) for the tournament to finish 46th.
Winona State came out on top in the team competition after carding a collective 301 (+13) in the final round. The Warriors finished a collective seven-over-par finishing 17 strokes ahead of second place Minnesota-Crookston.
Charlie Hanson of Sioux Falls came out on top individually, carding a 75 (+3) in the final round after shooting a 68 (-4) in the opening round. Hanson carded a 143 (-1) across 36 holes to finish one stroke ahead of Winona State's Logan Chouinard to claim the tournament title.
The Golden Bears will take a four month break before beginning the spring portion of their schedule in March.
