MANKATO, Minn. – The Concordia-St. Paul track and field team competed in the Maverick Classic on Friday and the men finished in third place with 129 points while the women finished in sixth with 47 points.

Marcus Gustaveson breaks his own school record in the discus with a throw of 59.06m. He is an automatic qualifier in the discus when he had a throw of 59.01m at the Maverick Spring Invite back in early April.  

Marcus Gustaveson also got the Golden Bears 10 points in the shot put with a throw of 17.10m. CJ Picazo took third in the discus with a throw of 48.02m, a new personal best for him. Keegan Larson placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 47.51m. 
 
Hunter Quinn placed second in the hammer throw with a distance of 51.25m, a new personal best. 
 
Benjamin Allen earned CSP 10 points with a first-place finish in the 1500m with a time of 3:45.43 and Matthew Helser won the 800m with a time of 1:54.90, a new personal best for him.
 
Brian Szutkowski won the 100m with a time of 10.93 and Lajuan Preston took third with a time of 11.11. 
 
Lajuan Preston, Christian Davis, Thomas Dietel, Brian Szutkowski won the 4x100m relay with a time of 41.74. 
 
Christian Davis placed fourth in the long jump with a distance of 6.92m, and Andrew Johnson finished in fifth with a jump of 6.84m. 

On the women's side, Christabelle Mulcahy placed first in the 100m hurdles and earned the Golden Bears 10 points with a time of 14.55. 
 
Christabelle Mulcahy, Lauryn Samuel, Tacora Taylor, Courtney Mensah placed fourth in the 100m relay with a time of 49.83. 
 
Sofia Dodge stole the show in the pole vault with a jump 11.5ft to earn first place and a new personal best for her. 
 
Hannah Gustafson placed second in the hammer throw with a distance of 54.72m. 
 
Ella Paaverud placed fourth in the javelin with a throw of 35.79m, which is a new personal best for her. 
 
The Golden Bears will prepare for the NSIC Outdoor Championships which will take place Thursday, May 13^th-Saturday, May 15^th in Duluth, Minnesota.
