Golden Bears finish 9th at the NSIC Cross Country Championships

The team finishes with their highest placement in the NSIC Championships since 2007

WAYNE, Neb. – Paced by a 27th place finish from junior Kara Lindberg, the Concordia-St. Paul women's cross country team placed 9th at the NSIC Cross Country Championships held at the Wayne State Country Club and hosted by Wayne State.

The 9th place team finish was the best CSP women's team finish since finishing 5th in 2007. The seven teams that the Golden Bears beat was the most teams a CSP women's team has ever defeated at an NSIC Cross Country Championships.

Kara Lindberg finished with a season best 6k time of 23:29.9, improving on her time from the Roy Griak Invitational by 41.27 seconds.

The team's score of 266 points was the lowest CSP women's team score at the NSIC Championships since the 2008 season.

The team's top 5 runner average time of 24:41.61 was the best at the Wayne State course by a CSP team in school history.

Women's Team Notes
  • The women's spread of 2 minutes 17 seconds was the 5th best 1st runner to 5th runner time difference in school history at the NSIC Championships.
  • The women's top 5 runner average time of 24:41.61 was the 5th best in school history at the NSIC Championships.
  • This was the first time since 2006, that the CSP women had 12 ladies finish at the NSIC Championships.

27.  Kara Lindberg – 23:29.93 – Kara runs a new season best time improving by 41.27 seconds faster than her race at the Roy Griak Invitational four weeks ago.  Kara runs the 2nd fastest CSP race in school history at the Wayne State course.  Kara runs the 4th fastest race by a CSP junior in school history.  Kara runs the 7th fastest CSP race at an NSIC Championship.  She now has 3 of the 7 fastest races at the NSIC Championship by a CSP runner. Kara ties her best NSIC finish with her 27th place finish (27 – 2018, 42 – 2017)

47.  Lucia Mesfin – 24:12.62 – Lucia runs a new personal best time improving by 5.98 seconds from her race four weeks ago at the Roy Griak Invitational.  Lucia runs the 6th fastest race by a freshman in CSP school history.  Lucia improved by 42 places from her 89th performance at the 2018 NSIC Championships.  Lucia ran 25.58 seconds faster than her 2018 NSIC performance.  Lucia runs the 6th fastest race by a CSP runner at the Wayne State course.

52.  Elena Schmidt – 24:26.84 – Elena runs a new personal best time improving by 50.36 seconds over her race four weeks ago at the Roy Griak Invitational.  Elena runs the 8th fastest race by a CSP runner at the Wayne State course.  Elena runs the 9th fastest race by a CSP freshman in school history.

87.  Tasha Bennett – 25:31.48 – Tasha runs a new season best time improving by 1 minute 6.92 seconds on her performance at the 2018 Roy Griak Invitational.  Tasha runs the 11th fastest race by a CSP runner at the Wayne State course.  With her 87th place finish, Tasha had her best NSIC Championship finish in her 4 years (102 in 2018, 119 in 2017, and 106 in 2016).   

95.  Lydia Carr – 25:47.17 – With her 95th place finish, Lydia had her best NSIC Championship finish in her 4 years (107 – 2018, 123 – 2107, and 128 – 2016)

105.  Sam Cole – 26:11.94 – Samantha sets a new personal best mark improving by 47.54 seconds from her performance at the 2018 NSIC Championships.  With her 105th place finish, Sam improved by 24 places from her 129th place finish at the 2018 NSIC Championships.

108.  Maria Brown – 26:19.88 – Maria sets a new season best time.

113. Avery Sivonen – 26:37.44 – Avery sets a new personal best time improving by 1 minute 14.76 seconds on her Roy Griak Invitational performance four weeks ago.
