ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Concordia-St. Paul men's and women's cross country teams make their way down to Wayne, Nebraska this Friday, Oct. 24 for the NSIC Cross Country Championships. The meet is set to take place at the Wayne Country Club, hosted by Wayne State.
Meet info
The women's 6,000 meter race is scheduled for 12 p.m. while the men's 8,000 meter race is set for 1:15 p.m. 16 teams are slated to compete in the women's race, while 14 teams will compete on the men's side.
The top-10 runners will be designated All-NSIC first team and 11-20 will be designated All-NSIC second team. Coach of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, Athlete of the Meet, NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year and the NSIC Elite 18 Award will be announced at the end of the meet.
Admission to the race is free and it will be streamed live on the NSIC Network. The network will also stream the awards ceremony at the conclusion of the race. Live results will also be posted and can be found at the link above.
Last season
The CSP men's cross country team finished eighth out of 13 teams at last seasons' NSIC Championships.
Emmett Faltesek led the way for the Golden Bears, finishing 24th with a time of 24:53.0. Matt Krummel posted a career best time of 25:20.0, placing 37th.
Andrew Alexander finished with the ninth best time at the NSIC Championships in program history, finishing the 8k in 25:40.2 to place 49th. Ethan Blischke posted a time of 26:24.1 finishing in 71st place.
Travis Tock placed 95th, coming in with a time of 26:30.5. Josh Krummel came in with a time of 26:45.9, setting a new PR and finishing in 95th place. Zay Acosta placed 113th with a time of 27:26.0.
On the women's side, the Golden Bears finished in 15th place as a team. Nyadio Chan crushed her previous best time, finishing in 24:19.0 to place 100th.
Elise Atkins also posted a personal best at last seasons' NSIC Championships, coming in with a 6k time of 27:30.0.
Augustana claimed both the men's and women's team titles, with the men picking up their 14th title in the last 15 races. The women claimed their ninth cross country team title.
Augustana's Ryan Hartman was the top finisher in the 8k, posting a time of 23:49.4. UMary's Alyssa Becker placed first in the women's 6k with a time of 19:51.2.
Last time out
CSP traveled to Romeoville, Illinois to compete in the Lewis Crossover, with the men finishing 34th, while the women finished in 35th place.
Andrew Alexander was the top CSP finisher in the men's 8k, coming in with a time of 26:01.37 to place 178th. Andrew Boyum ran a season-best time of 26:32.27 to finish in 239th place.
Travis Tock came in with a time of 26:50.32, setting a new season personal best to finish in 266th place. Ethan Blischke came in just behind Tock with a time of 26:54.36 in 277th place.
Brock Johnosn smashed his season best time, setting a new PR of 26:55.42 to finish in 208th place. Josh Krummel and Matthew Urgiles-Suarez came in with times of 29:42.22 and 29:44.57, Nathaniel Merrell rounded things out with a time of 31:04.95.
On the women's side, Nyadio Chan was CSP's top finisher with a time of 24:37.95, setting a new season-best 6k time to finish in 228th place. Kayla Anderson came in behind Chan with a time of 25:08.9.
Lauryn Rosenthal placed 277th with a time of 25:29.9. Elise Atkins set a new season-best 6k time of 34:22.1.
In her first race of the season Kathryn Stroede finished with a 6k time of 38:18.9.
