2012: Did not play ... named CU Scout Team Defensive Player of the Week in season opener against U-Mary (9/1/12) ... was an NSIC All-Tournament Team baseball player as starting third baseman for the Golden Bears in the spring ... is expected to focus on baseball in the future.

Wayzata High School: A two-sport athlete for the Trojans, earning three letters in football and four in baseball as a four-year starter on the diamond ... was a 2011 All-State First Team, All-Metro First Team, All-Area and All-Lake Conference performer ... as a two-year starter at inside linebacker in 2010 and 2011, Poppitz helped lead the Trojans to a 20-0 record ... helped WHS to a 2010 State Championship as a junior, making 105 tackles, seven sacks and 19 tackles for loss in 11 games ... as a senior, went for 97 tackles, 6.5 sacks and 19 tackles for loss. 

Personal: Born November 14, 1993 ... son of Mark Poppitz and Betty Good ... will major in accounting and finance ... career goals are to play professional baseball or become an accountant ... his father, Mark, was a defensive lineman for Mankato State football in 1971 ... his uncle, Rick Poppitz, was a linebacker for Mankato State from 1970-73 ... was signed to be a dual-sport athlete, also competing on Concordia's baseball team.
