2012: Played in two games, against Minnesota Duluth (9/15/12) and at Winona State (11/10/12).

2011: Redshirted, did not play ... named CU Defensive Player of the Week at Winona State (10/22/11).

Minnetonka High School: Earned four letters in football for the Skippers ... was third-ranked tackler on the team with 72 as a senior … had 45 solo tackles and 27 assisted … led team with four fumble recoveries ... also had two sacks and an interception … awarded the Maxie Scholarship which is given to a senior who exemplifies compassion, commitment and leadership ... as a junior finished with 30 tackles, two sacks anda fumble recovery while helping the Skippers to an 8-3 overall record ... earned the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award in 2009-10.

Personal: Born October 12, 1992 ... son of Alan Bates and Penny Perrault ... has two sisters, Madison (21) and Bentley (15), and a brother, Beau (18) ... will major in kinesiology with a minor in biology ... would like to be an athletic trainer or nutritionist in his future ... his uncle, Bruce Bates, was an outfielder for the University of Minnesota baseball team.
