Golden Bears head north for NSIC Outdoor Championships

NSIC Championships set to be held in Duluth from Thursday to Saturday

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia-St. Paul track and field team will head north to Duluth, Minn. this week for the three-day NSIC Outdoor Championships.

NSIC CHAMPIONSHIPS INFORMATION
The NSIC Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held at Malosky Stadium on the campus of Minnesota Duluth from Thursday, May 7 to Saturday, May 9. Live results will be available here. A free livestream will be available on NSICNetwork.com. For a full schedule of events, click here. The meet will be ticketed, with adult tickets set at $15 and youth/student tickets set at $5. Youth under 10 will be admitted free of charge.

LAST TIME OUT
The Golden Bears last competed at the Tim Marshall Open on the campus of Minnesota State.

Junior Mehlayna Straub recorded a new personal record in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 14.28 seconds to place fourth in finals after qualifying with a time of 14.47 seconds in the preliminaries. Straub also placed third in the javelin, setting a new personal record with a distance of 118' 9".

Junior Desiree Loyd set a new season best in the high jump, winning the event with a height of 5' 4.5".

Senior Karlina Zimmerman placed second in the 400-meter dash, clocking a season-best time of 59.33 seconds.

Sophomore Mackenzie Lovejoy also recorded a season-best time, finishing the 400-meter hurdles in 1:07.60 to finish fourth.

For the Concordia men in Mankato, junior Will Hugo recorded a new personal record in the javelin throw, placing third with a toss of 140' 9".

Sophomore Cam Mata also logged a third-place finish after clearing 24' 1" in the long jump.

In the pole vault, Abid Alam finished in fourth place with a height of 12' 5.25".

The CSP relay squad of John SchmitzJayden KuhlmanJames Howard, and Zay Acosta won the 4x400-meter relay after clocking a time of 3:29.25.

Kuhlman also secured a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.39 seconds.

NSIC LEADERBOARDS
At the 2025 NSIC Outdoor Championships, three Golden Bears earned All-NSIC selections, with Mehlayna Straub (second place, heptathlon) being the only returner seeking back-to-back selections in 2026.

Heading into the NSIC Outdoor Championships, the Golden Bears currently hold 27 top-10 rankings on the NSIC leaderboards, including eight top-five rankings. Three Golden Bears also rank in the top 41 on the national leaderboards in four events.
