Golden Bears set for postseason play at the NSIC Championships

CSP comes in as reigning NSIC Champions after winning the tournament last season.

ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Concordia-St. Paul men's golf team is set to compete at the NSIC Championships this weekend, April 17-19. The three round tournament is set to take place at the Paradise Pointe Golf Complex in Smithville, Missouri. 

The Golden Bears come into the tournament looking to defend their title after taking the top spot last year behind a three round score of 862 (-2) and punching their ticket to the NCAA Central Region Championship. 

Tournament and Course Information
10 NSIC squads are slated to compete at the postseason tournament with CSP, Winona State, Minot State, Minnesota Crookston, Augustana, Jamestown, Minnesota State, Bemidji State, UMary and Sioux Falls making up the field. Friday's action is set to begin with a 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. 

Paradise Pointe Golf Complex is Kansas City's only golf facility that offers two challenging 18 hole golf courses, plus a four hole academy course. The Posse course features bluegrass fairways, rolling terrain and beautiful lake views. The Outlaw course features zoysia fairways, large greens and more beautiful lake views. 

Last Season 
The Golden Bears used a 279 (-9) final round to card an 862 (+2) across all three rounds to secure their second NSIC Championship in program history. CSP entered the final round in a tie with Winona State before separating themselves and going on to win by 10 strokes. 

Individually the Golden Bears were led by Thomas Gutzmer who carded a 210 (-6) for the tournament, including a 66 (-6) in the third round to finish in second place overall. 

Josh Esterley finished in a tie for seventh place after he shot a 219 (+3) behind single round scores of 72 (E), 74 (+2) and 73 (+1). 

Trey Timm capped off the tournament by shooting a 70 (-2) in round three, carding a 223 (+7) across all three rounds for a 17th place finish. 

At the NSIC Preview 
The Golden Bears finished in fourth place at the NSIC Preview earlier this year, shooting a 590 (+14) at the Paradise Pointe Golf Complex. 

Chase Camilli put together his strongest finish of the spring, carding a 142 (-2) for the tournament to notch a third place finish and his second top 10 placement of the season. 

Trey Timm shot a 69 (-3) in the final round to card a 143 (-1) for the tournament, finishing in sixth place. Timm notched his third top 10 finish of the season in the process. 

Last Time Out 
The Golden Bears finished in 13th place in their most recent outing at the Firekeeper Open in Mayetta, Kansas two weeks ago. CSP carded a 901 (+37) as a team after a 302 (+14 ) final round at the Firekeeper Golf Course. 

Josh Esterley paced the Golden Bears, shooting a 77 (+5) in the final round of play to card a 222 (+6) for the tournament, finishing in 26th place. Esterley's final round included 14 pars, while the junior finished the tournament with 12 birdies. 

Trey Timm shot a 73 (+1) in the final round for a three round score of 230 (+14), moving up 19 spots on the final day of competition to finish in 70th place. 

Carson Boe put together a three round score of 227 (+11) to finish in 50th place. Freshman Seasn Leutner shot a 76 (+4) in the final round, birdying five times in round three to card a 227 (+11) for the tournament, finishing in 55th place. 

Chase Camilli carded a 235 (+19) for the tournament, finishing in 85th place. Cale Thomposn competed independently and carded a 232 (+16), good for a 78th place finish.
