SMITHVILLE, Mo. — The Concordia-St. Paul men's golf team continued play at the NSIC Championships on Friday afternoon at the Paradise Pointe Golf Complex. The Golden Bears shot a 304 (+16) in round two, giving them a two round score of 590 (+14) to end the day in second place with one round to go.
Individually CSP was led by senior Trey Timm who shot a 75 (+3) in the second round after shooting a 72 (E) in round one to finish the day in fifth place on the individual leaderboard. Timm birdied twice in round two on holes eight and nine to shoot a 37 at the turn. On the back nine Timm made par on seven of the final nine holes, shooting a 38 on the back nine and ending the day three over par, putting together a two round score of 147 (+3).
Josh Esterley shot a 76 (+4) in round two after carding a 72 (E) in the opening round, putting him in sixth place through two rounds of play. Esterley had six pars on the front nine and birdied the ninth hole to shoot a 37 at the turn. The junior shot a 39 on the back nine with six pars to finish the afternoon four over par with a two round score of 148 (+4).
Freshman Carson Boe ended the day in 16th place on the individual leaderboard behind a 76 (+4) second round, after carding a 74 (+2) in round one. Boe birdied once in the second round on the par three, third hole, making par on the next six holes to shoot a 37 at the turn. On the back nine Boe picked up seven more pars to shoot a 39 and finish the day four over par with a two round score of 150 (+6).
Chase Camilli put together a 77 (+5) in the second round after shooting a 74 (+2) in round one to end the day in 21st place. Camilli's highlight of the day was an eagle on the par four eighth hole followed by a birdie on the ninth hole to shoot a 37 at the turn. Camilli finished with a 40 on the back nine to end the day four over par with a two round score of 151 (+7).
The final member of the CSP five was Sean Leutner who shot a 85 (+13) in round two after shooting a 68 (-4) in round one. The freshman birdied once on the par five, fifth hole, ending th day in 26th place with a two round score of 157 (+13).
Winona State climbed into the top spot in the team competition with a 291 (+3) second round after shooting a 294 (+6) in round one for a two round total of 585 (+9) and a five stroke lead. Sioux Falls sits in third place with a two round score of 597 (+21) seven strokes behind CSP.
Max Jericho of Winona State is in the lead individually through two rounds of play after shooting a 70 (-2) in the second round, giving him a two round score of 140 (-4) and a three stroke lead heading into the final round of play.
The final round of play at the NSIC Championships gets underway tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start at the Paradise Pointe Golf Complex.
