PITTSBURG, Kan. — The Concordia-St. Paul men's golf team wrapped up play at the Tommy Riggs Collegiate Invitational this afternoon. The Golden Bears carded a 307 (+19) in the final round for a three round score of 955 (+91), finishing in 17th place in the team competition.
Cale Thompson surged 28 spots on the final day of competition, carding a 72 (E) in the third round for a three round score of 236 (+20) to finish in 51st place. Thompson tallied six birdies in the final round and carded a 35 on the front nine to finish the day at even par.
Thompson's even par round matched his lowest single round score of the season, after he shot a 72 at the NSIC Preview last week.
Chase Camilli moved up 12 spots after shooting a 77 (+5) in the third round, putting together a three round total of 243 (+27) and a 75th place finish. Camilli birdied four times in the final round with two on the front nine and two on the back nine for a five over round.
Freshman Carson Boe shot a 78 (+6) in round three to card a 248 (+32) to finish in 90th place. Boe notched one birdie in round three, while adding 11 pars to the scorecard in a six over round.
Senior Trey Timm shot an 80 (+8) in round three to card a 241 (+25) for the tournament, finishing in 67th place. Josh Esterley rounded out the CSP five, shooting a 81 (+9) in the third round to card a 238 (+22) for the tournament, finishing in 58th place.
Sean Leutner competed independently and carded a 74 (+2) in the final round, for a three round score of 233 (+17). Leutner tallied four birdies and five pars to shoot a 33 on the back nine for a two over round and 40th place finish.
Central Oklahoma finished first in the team competition, carding a collective 890 (+26) across all three rounds to finish seven strokes ahead of second place Washburn. Winona State finished in fourth as the highest placing NSIC squad, shooting a collective 45 over par.
Peyton Coahran of Winona State finished first on the individual leaderboard after shooting a 219 (+3) to finish one stroke ahead of Central Oklahoma's Rhett Hughes.
The Golden Bears are back in action next week at the Firekeeper Open at the Firekeeper Golf Course in Mayetta, Kansas.
