ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Concordia-St. Paul men's golf team heads to Pittsburg, Kansas next week to compete at the Tommy Riggs Collegiate Invitational. The three round tournament will take place at the Crestwood Country Club.
Tournament and Course Information
Originally opened in 1960 as a nine hole course, the Crestwood Country Club was redesigned and expanded to 18 holes in 1978 by Kansas Golf Hall of Fame architect, Floyd Farley. The par 72, 6700 yard course features large bent grass greens and lush zoysia fairways.
Monday's forecast for Pittsburg, Kansas calls for a high of 82 degrees with partly cloudy skies and gusty winds of 20 to 30 mph out of the south-southwest. Tuesday's forecast is mostly cloudy and windy in the morning with thunderstorms likely in the afternoon, gusty winds of 20 to 30 mph.
17 teams are slated to compete at the Tommy Riggs Collegiate Invitational, including five NSIC schools. The field is comprised of; CSP, Minnesota Crookston, Winona State, Bemidji State, Sioux Falls, Central Missouri, Washburn, Pittsburg State, Fort Hays State, Rogers State, Central Oklahoma, Missouri Western, Newman, Missouri Southern, Arkansas-Fort Smith, Northwestern Oklahoma State and Northeastern State.
Last Time Out
CSP finished fourth at the NSIC Preview at the Paradise Pointe Golf Complex in Smithville, Missouri. The Golden Bears carded a collective 590 (+14) across both rounds at the tournament.
Chase Camilli led the way for CSP, carding a 142 (-2) across both rounds to finish in third place. Camilli's third place finish marks his second top-10 placement of the season and his best finish since the BSU Invite at the start of the season where he finished in second place.
His score of 142 is the third lowest of his career and matches the 142 he shot at the Jewel Invitational earlier this season.
Trey Timm surged eight spots on the final day of competition to card a 143 (-1) for the tournament, finishing in sixth place. Freshman Carson Boe carded a 154 (+10) across both rounds, finishing 50th on the individual leaderboard.
Josh Esterley shot a 151 (+7) at the tournament to notch a 31st place finish, Freshman Seasn Leutner rounded out the CSP five with a score of 164 (+20) for a 91st place finish.
Of the Golden Bears who competed individually Cale Thompson led the way, carding a 149 (+5) across both rounds to finish in 23rd place. Sam Rudolph carded a 155 (+11) for a 54th place finish, Sam Lunde shot a 152 (+8) for a 39th place finish. Camden O'Malley carded a 156 (+12) for the tournament finishing in 64th place.
Trey Timm ranks fifth in the NSIC with a 72.4 scoring average through 15 rounds this season. Josh Esterley is eighth in the conference with a 72.9 scoring average, Carson Boe is 15th with a 73.5 average and Chase Camilli is 17th with a 73.7 average.
CSP ranks second in the NSIC with a collective scoring average of 290.0 across 15 rounds this season. Winona State leads the conference with a 281.5 average this season.
