SMITHVILLE, Mo. — The Concordia-St. Paul men's golf team wrapped up round one at the NSIC Preview this afternoon. The Golden Bears are in third place after carding a collective 291 (+8) in the opening round at the Paradise Pointe Golf Complex.
Chase Camilli led the way for CSP, shooting a 71 (-1) in the opening round to close the day in fourth place on the individual leaderboard. Camilli closed out the front nine with a birdie to head into the turn shooting a 38.
The junior opened the back nine with two birdies and made par on holes 12 and 13, before adding birdies on holes 14 and 17 to card a 33 on the back nine and finish the day one under par.
Josh Esterley carded a 73 (+1) in the first round, wrapping up lay in 10th place individually. The junior managed four birdies and eight pars on the scorecard, shooting a 36 on the front nine and a 37 on the back nine to close the afternoon inside the top 10.
Trey Tim carded a 74 (+2) in the opening round, closing the day in 14th place, while notching two birdies on holes four and 11. The senior also added 12 pars to his scorecard, shooting identical 37's on the front and back nine.
Freshman Carson Boe shot a 78 (+6) in the opening round, closing out the day in 45th place. Boe managed two birdies on the front nine to card a 36, before scoring a 42 on the back nine to finish the day six over par.
Rounding out the CSP five was Sean Leutner, the freshman carded a 82 (+10) in round one and tallied three birdies on the scorecard, ending the day in a tie for 81st place.
Four Golden Bears competed individually with San Lunde leading the pack, carding a 76 (+4) in round one to finish the day in 31st place. Cale Thompson finished one stroke behind with a 77 (+5) in 38th place on the leaderboard.
Camden O'Malley carded a 79 (+7) to end the day in 57th place and San Rudolph shot a 82 (+10) in round one to close the afternoon in a tie for 81st place.
Winona State leads in the team competition at the end of round one, shooting a collective 285 (+2) to finish the day with a three stroke lead over second place Augustana.
Freddie Muggeridge of Southwestern Community College (Iowa) carded a 69 (-3) in round one to finish the day in first place individually. Marc Bofarull of Minnesota Crookston is the top NSIC competitor finishing the day in second place after carding a 70 (-2).
The final round of the NSIC Preview gets underway tomorrow morning at the Paradise Pointe Golf Complex in Smithville, Missouri.
