SMITHVILLE, Mo. — The Concordia-St. Paul men's golf team finished fourth at the NSIC Preview this afternoon. The Golden Bears shot a collective 294 (+6) in the final round to card a two round score of 590 (+14) at the Paradise Pointe Golf Complex in Smithville, Missouri.
Chase Camilli led the way shooting a 71 (-1) in the final round to card a 142 (-2) for the tournament, finishing in third place individually. His third place finish marks his second top 10 placement of the season and his best finish since finishing second at the BSU Invite to start the fall season.
Camilli notched five birdies in the afternoon, with four of those coming on the back nine, where the junior golfer carded a 33. Camilli's two round score of 142 is the third lowest of his career matching his 142 at the Jewel Invitational earlier this season.
Senior Trey Timm surged eight spots on the final day of competition, carding a 69 (-3) in the final round for a two round score of 143 (-1) to finish in sixth place. It is Timm's third top 10 finish of the season after finishing fifth at the CSP Fall Brawl and eighth at the Jewel Invitational earlier this season.
Timm's final round included four birdies and 13 pars, while dropping just one shot on the afternoon to finish the day three under par.
Carson Boe carded a 76 (+4) in the final round for a two round total of 154 (+10), finishing 50th on the individual leaderboard. Boe had five birdies on the final day of competition, including four on the back nine where he shot a 36.
Josh Eserley shot a 78 (+6) in round two for a two round score of 151 (+7)to finish in 31st place overall. Sean Leutner rounded out the CSP five, carding a 82 (+10) in round two for a tournament score of 164 (+20), adding one eagle to his scorecard on the 11th hole and finishing in 91st place.
Four Golden Bears competed individually, Cale Thompson led the way in round two with a 72 (E) setting a new career single-round low, besting his score of 75 at the CSP Fall Brawl earlier this season. Thompson put together a two round score of 149 (+5) to finish in 23rd place.
Sam Rudolph shot a 73 (+1) in the final round to record a two round score of 155 (+11), finishing in 54th place overall. Freshman Sam Lunde shot a 76 (+4) in round two for a tournament score of 152 (+8) and a 39th place finish. Camden O'Malley shot a 77 (+5) on the final day to card a 156 (+12) for the tournament, finishing in 64th place.
Winona State claimed the top spot in the team competition, carding a collective 574 (-2) to finish in first place. Augustana finished in second, carding a collective 11 over par finish.
Peyton Coahran of Winona State finished in first place in the individual competition, carding a 141 (-3) for the tournament to finish in a tie with Marc Bofarull of Minnesota Crookston for the top spot.
The Golden Bears are back in action next week when they head down to Pittsburg, Kansas for the Silverback Invite at the Crestwood Country Club. The two round tournament is set to take place March 30-31.
