Golden Bears grab 29 top-10 finishes at Hamline Invite

14 CSP athletes finish in the top five

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia-St. Paul men's and women's track and field teams continued the outdoor season on an abnormally warm March afternoon in St. Paul on Monday, competing at the Hamline Invite at Klas Field.

As a team, the Golden Bears collected 29 top-10 finishes throughout the meet, including 14 finishers in the top five.

Freshman Brogan Engfer claimed the first event win of his young career for CSP, winning the shot put with a personal best outdoor distance of 47' 10". Engfer also set new personal records in the discus and hammer throw, finishing in eighth place in the discus and 19th in the hammer.

In the sprints, freshman John Schmitz made his outdoor debut and claimed a pair of top-10 finishes, claiming second place in the 200-meter and fourth place in the 100-meter, setting new personal bests in both events. Fellow freshman Jayden Kuhlman also made a splash in the sprints, grabbing second place in the 400-meter.

A pair of Golden Bears finished in the top five in the high jump, with Mason Williams taking third and Will Hugo finishing in fourth.

Making his Concordia debut after transferring from Indiana, senior David Olowookere finished in third place in the 400-meter hurdles.

For the Golden Bear women, sophomore Mackenzie Lovejoy was the top overall finisher after grabbing second place in the 100-meter hurdles.

Making her outdoor debut for CSP, freshman Kate Miriovsky started strong with a third-place finish in the pole vault, setting a new career-best height in the process at 10' 11.75".

Nevaeh Coffer and Ashley Kollie each placed top-five in the long jump, with Coffer taking third and Kollie placing fourth and setting a new personal record.

Junior Desiree Loyd recorded a new personal-best time of 12.47 in the 100-meter dash, good for sixth place.

The Golden Bears will head south to Emporia, Kansas next weekend for the Midwest Classic hosted by Emporia State on Friday, April 3 and Saturday, April 4.
