ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Concordia-St. Paul men's golf team heads to Smithville, Missouri to compete at the NSIC Preview. The two round tournament is hosted by Winona State at the Paradise Pointe Golf Course.
Tournament and Course Information
Paradise Pointe Golf Complex is Kansas City's only golf facility that offers two challenging 18 hole golf courses, plus a four hole academy course. The Posse course features bluegrass fairways, rolling terrain and beautiful lake views. The Outlaw course features zoysia fairways, large greens and more beautiful lake views.
12 teams are slated to compete at the NSIC Preview, including nine NSIC squads, with CSP, UMary, Minnesota State, Bemidji State, Sioux Falls, Minot State, Minnesota Crookston, Augustana and Winona State comprising the field. Upper Iowa, Rockhurst and Southwestern Community College are set to compete as well.
Last Season
CSP finished in first place as a team at last year's NSIC Preview, carding a 572 (-4) as a team, picking up their fourth tournament win as a team to set a new program record for tournament wins in a single season.
Thomas Gutzmer finished atop the individual leaderboard carding a 135 (-9) to claim the top spot by three strokes.
Josh Esterley carded a 143 (-1) across both rounds, finishing in a tie for 12th place to notch his third top-20 finish of the season. Trey Timm carded a 150 (+6) at the tournament to finish in 55th place on the individual leaderboard.
Last Time Out
CSP opened the spring season by finishing fifth at the Maverick Desert Classic two weeks ago. The Golden Bears carded a collective 587 (+11) at the Palm Valley Golf Club.
Freshman Carson Boe led the way, carding a 142 (-2) across both rounds to finish in a six-way tie for first place. Boe set a new career two round low at the tournament, besting his previous low mark of 144 (+2) at the CSP Fall Brawl and marking the first top-10 placement of his career.
Boe's finish earned him NSIC Golfer of the Week honors, the first of his career and the first time a CSP men's golfer has earned the award this season.
Josh Esterley shot a 72 (E) in the final round to card a 143 (-1) for the tournament, climbing seven spots on the final day to finish in seventh place. Trey Timm carded a 149 (+5) for the tournament, finishing in 34th place on the individual leaderboard.
Freshman Sean Leutner carded a 153 (+9) across both rounds to finish in a tie for 44th place. Chase Camilli rounded out the CSP five by carding a 167 (+23) for the tournament to finish in 81st place.
Camden O'Malley shot a 153 (+9) for the tournament to finish in a tie for 44th place. Sam Lunde carded a 150 (+6) at the tournament, matching his two round low at the CSP Fall Brawl earlier this season to finish in 37th place.
Cale Thompson carded a 154 (+10) to finish in 49th place, while Sam Rudolph shot a 156 (+12) across both rounds to finish in 49th place.
