VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Concordia-St. Paul's
Cam Mata competed in the long jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday afternoon, finishing in 15
th place in the 18-participant field.
Mata, who moved up one spot after entering the NCAA Championships as the 16
th qualifier, cleared 23' 0" (7.01 meters) on his third and final jump of the day.
Earlier this season, the sophomore standout broke the CSP record in the indoor long jump with a distance of 24' 2.25".
Mata is just the third Golden Bear to have competed in the long jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships, following Diahn Zeon (2008-09) and Christian Davis (2020-21). Davis went on to earn USTFCCCA All-America honors with a sixth-place finish.
With the indoor season now officially in the books, the CSP men's and women's track and field teams will now shift their attention to the outdoor season, scheduled to begin on March 27 and 28 at the Wildcat Classic hosted by Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb.
