Golden Bears finish round one of the CSP/MSU Fall Brawl in second-place

Junior Josh Esterley led the way for CSP in round one with a score of 68 (-3).

HUDSON, Wisc. — The Concordia-St. Paul men's golf team ended day one of the CSP/MSU Fall Brawl in second-place. The Golden Bears recorded a team score of 282 (-2) through 18 holes at the Troy Burne Golf Course. 

Josh Esterley shot a 68 (-3) to finish round one tied for fourth-place on the individual leaderboard. Esterley started the opening round with a birdie on the par five, first hole, tallying another birdie on hole seven to finish the front nine two-under-par without dropping a shot.

On the back nine, the junior added three more birdies on the back nine to finish the round three-under-par. 

Freshman Carson Boe put together a strong first round, tallying two birdies and one eagle on the back nine to card a 69 (-2). Finishing the day in sixth-place in the individual standings. 

Chase Camilli opened the first round with four consecutive pars, before birdying the 562 yard, par five, fifth hole. Adding on two more birdies to start the front nine, to shoot a 33 on the back nine and finish the day with a 71 (E). 

Freshman Sean Leutner birdied four times on the front nine to card a 74 (+3) at the end of round one. Trey Timm shot a 75 (+4) in round one, tallying one birdie to round out the CSP five. 

Concordia finished the day two-under-par as a team and tied for second-place with Sioux Falls. Winona State ended the day as the leaders in the clubhouse with a team score of 272 (-12). Augustana sits in fourth-place three strokes behind the Golden Bears with a team score of 284 (E).

Sioux Falls' Jadan Ford finished the day tied for first-place with Peyton Coahran of Winona State. Both golfers finished the day with a score of 66 (-5). 

The Golden Bears are back in action Tuesday morning for the second and final round of the CSP/MSU Fall Brawl.
