BURNSVILLE, Minn. — The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference released the 2025 women's golf Coaches' Poll on Wednesday morning. Concordia-St. Paul was picked sixth and received 86 points, the Golden Bears were picked sixth in last season's poll as well.
Concordia returns all six golfers from last year's squad that finished tied for seventh at last season's NSIC Championships. The veteran group looks to build off last season's finish, while also adding in an influx of freshman talent.
"We're excited to watch a veteran team with some excellent freshman talent come together and grow as a group," Head coach Peter Maki said. "The women are hungry to prove themselves and compete as Golden Bears."
Among the group of incoming freshmen is Addi Wood, who was named as CSP's Student-Athlete to Watch.
Wood comes to Concordia by way of St.Croix Lutheran, where she placed 14th at MSHSL Class AA State Tournament last year.
"We're excited to bring Addi into our program. She has had a great summer of tournament play and we're ready to watch her compete as a Golden Bear," Maki said. "Her work ethic and genuine personality will be a great addition to our program."
Defending champion Minnesota State claimed the top spot in this year's preseason poll, with 131 points and nine first place votes. Augustana came in second with 122 points and one first place vote. Sioux Falls and Wayne State received the remaining two first place votes and were picked to finish fourth and fifth respectively.
Lanie Veenendall was voted as the NSIC Preseason Women's Golfer of the Year. Veenendall is coming off a season in which she was named the 2024-25 NSIC Player of the Year, earning All-NSIC First Honors behind a 76.4 scoring average.
The Golden Bears start the 2025-26 season at the Tracy Lane Memorial hosted by Bemidji State on Sept. 8-9. Concordia will host the CSP Fall Brawl Sept. 15-16 at the Troy Burne Golf Club in Hudson, Wisconsin.
