Golden Bears in sixth place through one round at NCAA Central Regional

Addi Wood carded a 74 (+2) to end the day in a tie for seventh individually.

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — The Concordia-St. Paul women's golf team wrapped up round one at the NCAA Central Regional in St. Joseph, Missouri this afternoon. The Golden Bears currently sit in a tie for sixth place, after carding a 316 (+28) in the opening round at the St. Joseph Country Club. 

Addi Wood leads CSP individually shooting a 75 (+3) in the first round to end the day in a tie for seventh place. Wood tallied 13 pars on the afternoon while adding one birdie to her scorecard on the 144 yard, par three, 11th hole. Her 13 par opening round was the second most of any player on day one, as she shot a 39 on the front nine and a 36 on the back nine. 

Through 18 holes, Wood is in a three way tie for seventh and one shot off the lead with six players shooting a 74 (+2) in round one. 

Piper Hill shot a 77 (+5) in the opening round, using four birdies to end the day in a tie for 14th place individually. Hill's birdies came on the sixth and eighth holes to shoot a 36 at the turn, before she added two more on holes 17 and 18 to close out the day with a 41 on the back nine. 

Hill ended round one tied for the most birdies in the opening round with Katarina Chynoranska of Missouri Southern and Darby Barstad who each tallied four as well. 

Barstad shot a 81 (+9) in round one, her first birdie of the day came on the 443 yard, par five, sixth before she added three more on the back nine on holes 10, 12 and 17 to shoot a 38 and end the day nine over par. 

Ella Matzke rounded out the top four scorers with a 83 (+11) in round one, ending the day with 12 pars on her scorecard, while shooting a 43 on the front nine and 40 on the back nine. 

Rebecca DeLong was the final member of the CSP five, she shot a 86 (+14) in round one with a total of seven pars in the opening round. 

Through one round on play CSP holds a one stroke lead on Arkansas Fort Smith and Southwest Oklahoma State who shot a 317 (+29) in round one to end the day in a tie for eighth place. 

The Golden Bears are tied with Northwest Missouri and sit one stroke behind Minnesota State for fifth place. The Mavericks carded a 315 (+27) in round one. 

Rogers State and Henderson State are currently tied for the team lead after shooting identical scores of 309 (+21) in the opening round. Washburn and Nebraska Kearney are tied for third at 310 (+22). 

Susana Granados-Carrion of Washburn, Lily Nelson of Henderson State, Emmie Rhude of Nebraska Kearney, Lora Jones of Henderson State, Brianna Maddux of Rogers State and Carlley Button of Southeastern Oklahoma State are all tied for first after shooting a 74 (+2) in round one. 

Round two of the NCAA Central Regional gets underway tomorrow morning at the St. Joseph Country Club. The Golden Bears are set to tee off at 9:40 a.m.
