Peter Maki

Peter Maki enters his fifth season as the head coach of the Concordia-St. Paul men's and women's golf programs in 2026-27. He became the head coach of Golden Bear men's and women's golf for the 2022-23 season, earning the permanent position appointment after a brief interim stint during the fall portion of his first season leading the programs.

Under Maki the 2025-26 season saw the Golden Bear women's golf team return to the NCAA Central Regional for the first time since the 2015-16 season. In his fourth season at the helm Maki guided the CSP women's team to a third place finish at the NSIC Championships, while finishing the season with a four player scoring average of 314.0, the best in program history. 

The Golden Bear men's golf team won the NSIC Tournament in 2024-25 under Maki's leadership, marking the second NSIC Championship in program history. Concordia-St. Paul won a program-best five tournaments during the 2024-25 campaign and earned an NCAA Central/Midwest Regional berth. Maki was also named NSIC Coach of the Year, becoming the second coach in program history to earn the honor. 

Maki has coached 13 All-NSIC golfers and five NSIC All-Tournament golfers during his tenure with the program. Isabella Dory won the 2022-23 NSIC Tournament Individual Championship under his leadership. He also aided Brandon Sperling to be named to the NCAA Division II PING All-Region Team in 2022-23. During the 2024-25 season, Thomas Gutzmer earned NSIC Player of the Year while Josh Esterley earned NSIC Newcomer of the Year honors. Most recently Maki aided Addi Wood to NSIC Newcomer and Player of the Year honors during the 2025-26 season. 
 
Maki previously served as the program’s top assistant coach for three and a half seasons as he originally joined the program for the spring of the 2018-19 season. He was integral leader within the program for both the men’s and women’s squads, helping the men's team win its first-ever NSIC Championship in the spring of 2022, reaching the NCAA Midwest/Central Regional Championships.
 
In his three-plus years working as an assistant with Concordia golf, the men’s program captured an NSIC championship, advanced to NCAA Central/Midwest Tournament postseason play, and had an individual advance to the NCAA Division II Championships.

He brings strong technical experience to the program, having used performance data collecting to improve individualized specific practice plans while implementing swing speed training protocol. He's also provided the program with general coaching, travel and administrative work during his time as an assistant.
 
In addition to his work within the CSP program, the Hudson, Wisconsin resident has been a lead instructor and director of junior golf with Brent Snyder Golf since 2013 where he has conducted over 9,000 in-person golf lessons while growing the junior golf program from 40 to 160-plus students.

Earlier in his coaching career, Maki was the men’s tournament director and instructor for Indian Ridge Country Club in Palm Desert, California from 2013-18 where he scheduled and developed men's tournament operations, implementing a 4-majors system and working towards a Valley League championship.
