BAY CITY, Mich. - The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced it's 2025 All-GLIAC Women's Lacrosse Teams following a vote by the league's head coaches Friday night. The Golden Bears make history with nine selections including Midfielder, Defender, Freshman and Coach of the Year.
Junior Susie Monson becomes the first player in program history to be named Midfielder of the Year after making her third consecutive appearance on the All-GLIAC Team. Monson has been named Second Team the past two seasons before earning her spot on the First Team this year.
History continued to be made with junior Claire Flahaven being named the Defender of the Year for the first time in program history while marking her third consecutive appearance on the All-GLIAC First Team. Flahaven has set the standard for the Golden Bear defense and becomes the first player to make a First Team in her first three seasons.
Goalkeeper Katie Colleran adds to the Navy and Gold's historic day as just the second player to be named Freshman of the Year while being named Second Team All-GLIAC. Colleran has made her mark in her freshman campaign and has put up one of the best single-seasons for a goalkeeper in program history.
Head Coach Alison Jennings earns her second GLIAC Coach of the Year award after first receiving the honor in 2022. Jennings has led the Golden Bears to their best conference finish all-time and best overall record since her award-winning 2022 season.
Joining Monson and Flahaven on the First-Team is senior Anna Fisher who marks her second All-GLIAC honor after being named to the Second Team last season.
Maddie Westerg and Sara Kaiser join Colleran on the Second Team, Westberg earns her first All-GLIAC honor while Kaiser makes her second appearance.
Wrapping up the All-GLIAC selections are Kayleigh Nelson and Anna Palony who are named Honorable Mention. This year's honor marks Nelson's second accolade and Palony's first.
Nine Golden Bears making the All-GLIAC team ties the 2022 season in which Maddy Seifert was named Freshman of the Year, Jennings earned Coach of the Year and seven more players were named to the respective teams.
GLIAC COACH OF THE YEAR
Alison Jennings (Fourth Season)
Alison Jennings earns her second GLIAC Coach of the Year accolade after leading the Golden Bears to their best conference finish all-time and best overall record since 2022. Jennings led a team that saw eight All-Conference players including the first ever Midfielder and Defender of the Year and the second ever Freshman of the Year. As a team, the Navy and Gold produced a 3-0 start to the season, one of two three-game winning streaks and finished 5-2 on their home turf.
GLIAC MIDFIELDER OF THE YEAR
#4 Susie Monson (M, 5-4, Jr., Bloomington, Minn. / Kennedy HS)
Susie Monson becomes the first GLIAC Midfielder of the Year in program history after finishing the regular-season with 31 goals and 28 assists, becoming the Golden Bears' all-time career leader in assists. Monson was named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week two times this season after posting back-to-back five goal weeks. She has been pivotal in guiding the Golden Bears to their best conference finish all-time and has continued to lead the GLIAC in draw controls per game through the entirety of the season.
GLIAC DEFENDER OF THE YEAR
#11 Claire Flahaven (D, 5-4, Jr., Elk River, Minn. / Elk River HS)
Claire Flahaven becomes the first GLIAC Defender of the Year in program history after accumulating 25 ground balls and 22 caused turnovers on the season. Flahaven has been a mainstay for the Golden Bears on defense while also racking up 31 draw controls to help get the Golden Bears to their best conference finish all-time.
GLIAC FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR
#17 Katie Colleran (G, 5-6, Fr., Chaska, Minn. / Chanhassen HS)
Katie Colleran becomes just the second Golden Bear to earn GLIAC Freshman of the Year after an astonishing freshman campaign. Colleran earned her first GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week this season and was named the IWLCA Goalkeeper of the Week after making 11 crucial saves in a victory over NMU. She has put up 93 saves and a .500 save percentage to become one of the most influential goalies for the Navy and Gold in season history and currently ranks fifth in NCAA DII in save percentage and sixth in ground balls per game with 4.38.
#8 Anna Fisher (A, 5-6, Sr., Stillwater, Minn. / Stillwater Area HS)
Anna Fisher earns All-GLIAC First Team after scoring a team-leading 46 goals and 52 points during the regular-season. Fisher recorded her 100th career point as a Golden Bear this season while earning her first GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolade. She recorded nine games with a hat-trick and has scored a goal in 15 of 16 games started.
#3 Sara Kaiser (A, 5-4, So., Andover, Minn. / Andover HS)
Sara Kaiser becomes a two-time GLIAC Second Team member after tallying 21 goals and 38 points on the season. Kaiser has rifled off 51 shots with 42 coming on goal and scored her fourth career hat-trick in the victory over William Jewell.
#9 Maddie Westberg (D, 5-7, Sr., Maple Grove, Minn. / Wayzata HS)
Maddie Westberg earns her first All-GLIAC accolade, being named to the Second Team in her senior campaign. Westberg has been all over defense recording 11 caused turnovers and 20 ground balls. She was pivotal in the win over Northern Michigan where she tallied three caused turnovers and three ground balls.
#1 Kayleigh Nelson (M, 5-8, Jr., Elk River, Minn. / Elk River HS)
Kayleigh Nelson becomes a two-time All-GLIAC Honorable Mention after her staple year at midfield. Nelson recorded 11 goals and 5 assists while winning 18 draw controls. Her 11 goals ranked fifth on the team and second for all midfielders.
#5 Anna Palony (D, 5-6, Jr., Robbinsdale, Minn. / Robbinsdale Cooper HS)
Anna Palony etches her name on the All-GLIAC Honorable Mention team for the first time after her best year on defense. Palony saw 22 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers to rank fourth on the team in both categories. She saw her best game of the year in the win over Northern Michigan where she collected three ground balls and three caused turnovers.
