MANKATO, Minn. – The Concordia-St. Paul men's and women's track and field teams resumed their seasons on Friday afternoon at the Bearson/Gathje Open hosted by Minnesota State, claiming three individual wins and 29 top-10 finishes.
The men were highlighted by senior hurdler
Drake Daniels, who clocked an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 8.09 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles to win the event. That time ranks 16
th in all of Division II so far this season, and is the third fastest among NSIC competitors.
Senior
Emmett Faltesek also claimed an individual victory for the Concordia men, winning the 800-meter with a time of 1:56.34.
Sophomore
Jerry Chanzu made his season debut for the Golden Bears, placing second in the 200-meter with a time of 22.24 seconds and sixth in the 60-meter with a time of 6.91 seconds.
Competing in just his second collegiate meet, freshman
Del Johnson set personal bests in both the 60-meter (6.92 seconds) and 400-meter (50.88 seconds) to finish seventh and third, respectively.
On the women's side, thrower junior
Maya Lavendusky set a personal record in the shot put with a 42' 6" toss to win the event.
Sophomore
Cadence Tanner placed in the top 10 in a pair of jumping events, landing third in the high jump and seventh in the long jump.
Making her season debut on the track, junior
Nyadio Chan set a new personal record in the 1,000-meter with a time of 3:02.96 to place second.
The Golden Bears will be back in action next weekend, competing at the St. Olaf Invite and Multi on Friday and Saturday in Northfield, Minn.
