Golden Bear women’s golf registers highest team finish of the season behind Hill’s fourth-place performance

The sophomore golfer shot 67 (+4) in round two to finish with a total of 159 (+15)

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Piper Hill took fourth place and the Golden Bear women's golf team placed second at the Augustana Spring Invitational on Tuesday. After shooting 83 (+11) in round one on Monday, Hill rebounded by shooting 76 (+4) in round two for a total of 159 (+15). 

The score of 76 (+4) tied for the fifth-best round of any golfer at the tournament. Hill made the third-most pars in the tournament with 21 and the tied fourth-most birdies with three. The sophomore finished with 13 pars in round two with a birdie on the 14th hole. This is Hill's second-best finish of the season as her highest was tying for second place at the Tracy Lane Memorial back in September. 

Senior Anna Tollette placed 13th shooting rounds of 84 (+12) and 82 (+10) finishing with a total score of 166 (+22). She tallied nine pars on the day to put her total at 14 for the weekend. Tollette played consistent bogey golf with 19 on the weekend. 

Darby Bartstad tied for 15th after shooting 84 (+12) in both rounds to finish at 168 (+24). She finished with 14 pars and 17 bogeys in the tournament. 

Freshman Rebecca DeLong placed 21st shooting 83 (+11) and 88 (+16). She birdied her second hole of the day and finished with 14 total pars in the tournament. Sage Mulder tied for 55th beating a season-high nine golfers. 

Concordia shot 664 (+88) as a team to take second place, beating Minot State by one stroke. Augustana took first place in the tournament shooting 611 (+35). Sioux Falls was in fourth place five strokes behind the Golden Bears. 

Augustana finished with the top three golfers in the tournament. Lauren Tims shot 144 (E) to place first. Shannon McCormick (+8) and Lanie Veenendall (+10) took second and third place ahead of Hill. 

The second-place finish is the highest finish for the Golden Bears this season as a team. This is the best finish for the team since the Augustana Invite last season where they took second as well. 

Concordia-St. Paul is back in action next week on April 15-16 at the Wildcat Classic hosted by Wayne State. The tournament will take place at the Wayne Country Club in Wayne, Nebraska.
