Concordia-St. Paul women’s golf places ninth at Wayne State Wildcat Classic

Hill leads the Golden Bears tying for 12th after 36 holes

WAYNE, Neb. - The Concordia-St. Paul women's golf team placed ninth out of 14 teams at the Wayne State Wildcat Classic on Monday. Piper Hill led the Golden Bears tying for 12th as an individual after a 36-hole day of battling the windy elements at the Wayne Country Club. 

Hill finished with back-to-back rounds of 79 (+7) to put up a score of 158 (+14). She tallied three birdies of the day, two of which came in the first round. The sophomore shot 35 (-1) on the back nine in the first round. 

Freshman Rebecca DeLong tied for 24th shooting a total of 162 (+18). DeLong shot 82 (+10) in round one and 80 (+8) in round two. She hit par in seven holes on the back nine in round two. 

Darby Barstad shot 168 (+24) on the day, finishing tied for 44th. The sophomore scored 80 (+8) in round one with eight pars. Senior Anna Tollette tied for 70th shooting 181 (+37). Freshman Sage Mulder tied for 86th shooting 206 (+62).

CSP shot 669 (+93) finishing eight strokes ahead of UMary in 10th place. Morningside placed eighth shooting 662 (+86). The Golden Bears finished sixth out of the eight NSIC teams at the Wayne State Wildcat Classic. 

Augustana won the tournament shooting 607 (+31). The Vikings shot 21 strokes better than Wayne State in second place. Nebraska Kearney took third place four strokes behind the Wildcats. 

Molly Stevens of Augustana took first place shooting 149 (+5). Baylie Pike of Iowa Western placed second shooting 151 (+7). Augustana's Lanie Veenendall placed third while Lauren Tims and Shannon McCormick tied in fourth place for the Vikings. 

The Golden Bears are back in action on April 26-28 at the 54-hole NSIC Championships in Smithville, Missouri. The three-day weekend tournament is scheduled to take place at Paradise Pointe Golf Complex.
