Concordia women’s golf ties for 21st at Grace Shin Regional Preview

Hill highlights CSP’s performance shooting lowest round of the season

EDMOND, Okla. - The Concordia-St. Paul women's golf team placed 21st with a team score of 628 (+68) after rounds of 316 (+36) and 312 (+32) at the Grace Shin Regional Preview. Piper Hill led the Golden Bears tying for 37th shooting 149 (+9) after recording her lowest season score on Tuesday at the par-70 Kickingbird Golf Course. 

Hill shot 73 (+3) in round two without hitting a double bogey and finished the day strong with a birdie. She totaled two birdies, 11 pars and five bogeys in the round. The junior jumped 12 spots in the standings after her round two performance. 

Rebecca DeLong shot 79 (+9) in the second round, finishing with a 159 (+19) total to tie for 91st. DeLong birdied her first hole of the day before hitting par on 10 holes, bogey on four holes and double bogey on three holes. This marked DeLong's second-lowest two-round score of the season. 

Freshmen Ella Matzke and Jenna Schumacher tied for 96th place after they both shot 80 (+10) on Tuesday to total a score of 160 (+20). A birdie on hole two highlighted Schumacher's day. Darby Barstad also shot 80 (+10) bringing her total to 163 (+23), finishing tied for 104th. 

The Golden Bears finished nine strokes behind Arkansas-Monticello in 20th place. CSP was three strokes ahead of Southeast Oklahoma State. Hill finished tied for the fourth-highest individual place in the NSIC. 

Central Missouri won the invitational with a team score of 573 (+13), beating Harding by two strokes. Winona State and Augustana tied for the best NSIC finishes tying for 14th shooting 600 (+40). 

Paige Hoffman of Northwest Missouri and Pilar Martinez of Harding tied for first place after each shot 138 (-2). Augustana's Shannon McCormick was the highest NSIC individual placer tying for 11th shooting 143 (+3). 

The Golden Bears return to action for the final tournament of the fall season next week on Oct. 14-15 at the Sioux Falls Invitational at Grand Falls Casino and Golf Resort in Larchwood, Iowa.
