HUDSON, Wis. - The Golden Bear women's golf team hosted the Maverick/Golden Bear Fall Brawl at Troy Burne Golf Club in Hudson, Wisconsin. After a beautiful couple of days and 36 holes at the Fall Brawl, Piper Hill and Rebecca DeLong tallied top 20 finishes for CSP. The Golden Bears finished fifth as a team at the tournament.

Hill shot 162 (+20) to tie for 15th place. She followed up an 84 (+13) in round one with a 78 (+7) in round two. DeLong tied for 18th place after shooting 79 (+8) on day one and 84 (+13) on day two.

The Golden Bears shot three strokes better in the second round than the first round to finish with an overall team score of 669 (+101).

"The women responded well. We climbed the leaderboard on day two. We didn't have our best stuff on day one, but it's another learning experience. We'll be ready to go at The Jewel in Lake City," said head coach Peter Maki

Minnesota State - Mankato won the Fall Brawl with a team score of 611 (+43). St. Catherine placed second with a score of 628 (+60). Winona State was third and the Golden Bears were 17 strokes behind Wayne State in fourth. UMary placed sixth as they finished two strokes behind CSP.

The Golden Bears will be back in action next week on Sept. 25-26 at The Jewel Golf Club in Lake City for Winona State's Watkins Invite.

"The Jewel is a very similar golf course to Troy Burne. Similar layout, similar grasses and a similar championship test. We'll be ready to roll," Maki said.
