MONKEY ISLAND, Okla. – Concordia-St. Paul men's golf was led by freshman
Noah Rasinski's 223 (+7), putting him in a tie for 22nd at the MSSU Fall Invitational at Shangri-La Country Club hosted by Missouri Southern State University.
Rasinski was the Golden Bears' top finisher for the tournament shooting 73-73-77=223. Rasinski entered the day tied for 12th, but after his highest round as a Golden Bear, 77, he dropped into a tie for 22nd. It's been a standout start to his career, shooting eight consecutive rounds of 77 or better golf to pace the squad.
Rasinski ended up finishing 14 shots off the lead because the individual tournament winner, Alberto Ruiz Nava of Central Oklahoma, shot seven under par for the tournament, 71-69-69=209.
Nava and Central Oklahoma controlled the team tournament after shooting a 277 in round two. They went on to win the team tournament posting 294-277-289=860.
Trent Anderson was the second best finisher for Concordia finishing tied for 40th shooting 79-75-76=230, 14 over for the tournament.
Chance Maiers finished tied for 42nd at 15 over for the tournament posting 78-76-77=231.
The Golden Bears entered the final round in ninth place ahead of Minnesota State, Sioux Falls, and Fort Hays State. The Golden Bears were able to hold on to their leads over the Cougars and Tigers, but the Mavericks were on their way up the leaderboard as they jumped from 10th, up into seventh, passing CSP, Rogers State University, and Southwest Baptist.
The men return home to prepare to travel to the Warrior Invite at The Jewel Golf Club in Lake City, Minn. hosted by Winona State Oct. 3-4.
