Strong finish highlights CSP's final fall tournament

Golden Bears break 300 as a team for the third time this fall to move up three spots

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Concordia-St. Paul men's golf completed the final round of the Midwestern State Invitational at Wichita Falls Country Club in a tournament hosted by Midwestern State University.
 
Building off of yesterday, senior Trent Anderson was the top finisher for the Golden Bears setting a new personal best score for a 54-hole tournament by finishing with 225 (+12). He finished the tournament in 19th out of 99 competitors at 12 over par posting 78-73-74=225.
 
Freshman Noah Rasinski shot the best final round for the Golden Bears by posting a 70 (-1), which was tied for the fourth-best score for the day. His -1 finish helped him to finish in a tie for 39th posting 84-76-70=230. Senior Chance Maiers also played a critical role in the team's jump up the leaderboard improving from his first day scores of 81 by shooting a 76 in the final round. Maiers finished the tournament tied for 70th posting 81-81-76=238.
 
The final round proved to be beneficial for the Golden Bears. They posted the sixth best score (299) of all the teams in the final round on Tuesday. The improvement in their team score pushed them up the leaderboard into sole possession of 14th place after beginning the day in 17th place in the 18-team tournament.
 
Benjamin Arnett of St. Mary's (TX) won the individual tournament with an overall score of three under par. At the end of day one he had a share of the lead with Hagen Barmasse of Rogers State University. However, while Arnett stayed on pace scoring a 70 (-1) for the final round to end his tournament with a score of 71-69-70=210 Barmasse finished the final day with a score of 75 (+4) to end his tournament with a score of 68-72-75=215 (+2).
 
Southeastern Oklahoma State was the top finisher for the team competition with all four of their finishers finishing in the Top-22. They finished the tournament with scores of 307-289-288=884 (+32).
 
It was an exciting and historic fall with many school and personal records set. First was the emergence of freshman Noah Rasinski winning his first ever tournament shooting a school record 215 for a 54-hole tournament. Then Chance Maiers and Rasinski each shooting a 68 round (Rasinski at Battle of the Falls and Maiers at JR Watkins), which ranks as the second best round shot in program history. Maiers at the JR Watkins Invitational setting a personal best score and the fourth lowest score in school history for a 36-hole tournament at 145. Trent Anderson finishing this week with a new personal best and tied for the sixth lowest score in program history in a 54-hole tournament at 225.
