ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia University has announced the 2011 Golden Bear football recruiting class, with 19 prep athletes committing to Concordia football. For updates throughout the spring season, please continue to check this website.

The current class of 19 prep athletes comes primarily from the Minnesota/Wisconsin/Illinois three state area with one west coast commitment from California. Eight prep players come from Minnesota and Wisconsin with two from Illinois. Four are offensive players (OL, TE, 2 QB), 11 are defensive (6 LB, 4 DL, 1 DB) with four specialists (2 K, P, LS).

Concordia University football is coming off of a five-win turnaround season in 2010, reaching the Mineral Water Bowl for the third time since the 2003 season. They have reached the Mineral Water Bowl more times than any other NSIC football program.

After their 8-4 overall and 7-3 Northern Sun finish in 2010, the Golden Bears are 57-46 in the Northern Sun since joining the league in the 1999 football season, and are 74-59 overall since joining NCAA Division II status the same year. They've captured two Northern Sun Championships (2003, 2005) in addition to their postseason appearances.
