LAKE CITY, Minn. — The Concordia-St. Paul men's golf team took sixth place at the Jewel Invitational after carding a 301 (+13) in the second round. CSP wraps up the tournament with a two round score of 592 (+16) at the Jewel Golf Course.
Individually the Golden Bears were led by freshman Brennan Weckwerth who captured his second first place finish of the season with a second round score of 72 (E). Across both rounds Weckwerth carded a 140 (-4) to finish with a one stroke lead and individual medalist honors.
The win comes after he finished in first place at the CSP/MSU Fall Brawl one week ago with a two round score of 141 (-1). The freshman has now completed four rounds of par or better to start the 2026-27 season while also recording the fifth lowest two round score in program history, tied with Brandon Sperling's 140 (-4) at the 2024 Maverick Desert Classic.
Weckwerth got it done by recording three birdies and a total of 12 pars in the final round, recording a 36 on the front nine, followed by four pars and a birdie to open the back nine. His two round score was as low as six-under-par at one point before closing out the back nine with a 36 to take home the win.
Weckerth tallied a total of 26 pars across both rounds to lead the field, while bogeying just three times, tied for the fewest of any golfer at the tournament.
Carson Boe finished in a tie for 29th place behind a 76 (+4) second round performance for a two round score of 151 (+7). Boe birdied three times in round two on holes four, 13 and 16 while making par nine times.
Tyler Gandrud carded a 76 (+4) in the second rounds as well to finish with a two round score of 152 (+8) and a 36th place finish. Gandrud had a strong front nine with two birdies and six pars to shoot a 36, on the back nine the junior shot a 40.
Sean Leutner turned in a 77 (+5) to card a 154 (+10) for the tournament, finishing in 44th place. Leutner led the field with a total of 10 birdies across both rounds, including three in round two.
Josh Esterley rounded out the CSP five with a second round score of 81 (+9) and a two round score of 153 (+9) to finish in a tie for 41st place.
Three Golden Bears competed individually, with Cale Thompson turning in the best second round score of 72 (E) and a 36 hole total of 152 (+8) for a 36th place finish. Thompson notched four birdies in round two to power him to an even par finish, marking his third career single round of par or better.
Camden O'Malley shot an 83 (+11) in the final round for a two round score of 159 (+15) and Sam Rudolph shot an 86 (+14) for a 164 (+20) 36 hole score.
Winona State took home the team title with a 577 (+1) two round score, Sioux Falls finished in second place at seven-over-par and Bemidji State finished third at nine-over-par.
CSP is back on the links Monday, October 5 when they head to Edmond, Oklahoma for the Skip Wagnon Invitational hosted by Central Oklahoma at the Kickingbird Golf Course.
